Re: SUMMER TRANSFER THREAD
The Suarez bid is a threat to Madrid to get them to sell Higuain quicker

Re: SUMMER TRANSFER THREAD
Does anyone believe we really made a bid on Suarez? If so does that mean the Higuain deal is off?
All seems a bit scatter gun to me. Having said that, there hasnt been a great deal of big business done elsewhere. Chelsea's interest in De Rossi is intriguing - I'd take him over Fellaini.

Re: SUMMER TRANSFER THREAD
Madrid surely know Suarez wouldnt join us for any number of reasons. Not least, hes apparently already on more than 100k, so would surely be seeking at least 150k from a new contract. That together with a minimum 35m or 40m asking price it doesnt sound the sort of money we deal with. Were not fooling anyone.

So the Saga continues ,players shipped out leaving us with our usual threadbare squad ,no defensive midfield cover whatsoever 1 spare centre half for the whole season.
Real And Arsenal are Playing a who blinks first competition over the price of Higuain leaving the back door open for anyone to step in and steal .
Far from being my own personal incessant negativity, I would suggest this is merely par for the course with Arsenal Football Club and its current management.
Something will give this week but I'm not plane watching at Heathrow !

Higuian still not announced . The only explanation I can think of is we're waiting for Rooney and Fellaini to sign so we can confirm at once. I can't wait for that day - I reckon tomorrow !

Meanwhile the spuds are closing in on david villa. So much for top four and big spending. If higuain isnt coming we should have a back up plan and villa at 14 mill would be a snip for proven quality. Felaini is also a must, if we got the money spend it and stop dithering. Just over 4 weeks to ko and same old bull.

Wow. Looks like we really did bid from Luis Suarez. BBC article:
Luis Suarez: Liverpool reject £30m Arsenal bid for striker
Liverpool have turned down a £30m bid from Arsenal for striker Luis Suarez.
Suarez has been at the centre of transfer speculation after receiving a 10-match ban for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic at Anfield last season.
Real Madrid had been expected to lead the pursuit of the 26-year-old Uruguayan after he said he had become disenchanted with life in England.
Liverpool have declined to comment on the reports of Arsenal's move.
However, it is understood an approach was made and instantly rejected as the Merseyside club continue to insist they want to keep Suarez at Anfield.
Chelsea have also been linked with a move for Suarez and it remains to be seen if Arsenal take their interest further as manager Arsene Wenger continues to try and finalise a deal for Real Madrid's Gonzalo Higuain.
Real Madrid are expected to emerge as the most serious test of Liverpool's resolve not to sell Suarez unless they receive an offer in the region of the £50m which saw Fernando Torres move to Chelsea in January 2011.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers remains relaxed about Suarez's situation and the striker has yet to indicate to the club that he wishes to leave.
The Merseyside club's stance has always been that they have no desire to part with Suarez - and even if Liverpool's hand is forced by the player's own discontent they will not be pushed into a deal and will hold out for the maximum price.
Suarez is currently on a break after playing for Uruguay in the Confederations Cup in Brazil and is not scheduled to return to Merseyside until the end of the month, at which time his future should become clearer.

Re: SUMMER TRANSFER THREAD
Yeah it's everywhere. I personally am still not convinced although the fact that Liverpool apparently declined to comment makes me wonder. Although the fact that it's perfectly timed in between Wimbledon/Lions and first Ashes test is amusing.
It worries me if it's true - what does it say about the Higuain deal and what does it say about our transfer policy? Whatever you think about the bloke and however you stack up his ability against his attitude, the fact is Liverpool are never going to sell him to us for £30m and in any event there are huge question marks over whether he'd actually want to come. I sincerely hope we're not back to taking ages to identify our targets and then making bids that are never ever going to be accepted (inevitably followed by complaints about 'dizzying prices').

Suarez,I would take him in a heart beat
We need players like him if we ever want to win anything again, like it or not.

Re: SUMMER TRANSFER THREAD
This stinks of the usual bs, making a low ball bid for a player that would never sign for us to a club who would never sell to us, this Suarez s**t is just a smokescreen to cover up a so far shambolic attempt to sign Higgy.some no brain has decided to put pressure on Madrid with a comedy bid for hannibal, get ready for a season with forehead and Le Chapman as our non firing forward line

Re: SUMMER TRANSFER THREAD
Suarez can fuck off. Two seasons and he'll be putting himself in the shop window again.
I cannot stand the geezer at all levels. Do we really want someone who is a proven racist and blatantly thinks its ok to bite another players arm in full glare of the tv cameras. Then starts crying when a club with values like pool distance themselves from him. This is Arsenal not some small time small minded football club.
We do things with class, suarez is anything but.
