Re: THE WENGER THREAD
That "there's thousands waiting to take my place" bullshit argument has long since elapsed. Imagine if you really had been on this long waiting list and were desperate to get a ticket.....do you think Mr 8,500 in the queue would really stand a chance? Also, for those Red Members or others desperate to get to see the first team moaning that its only the silvers and STs that get a decent shot at tickets.......how many took up the offer to go last Thursday when thousands stayed away?Ikechukwu1 wrote:Well done Augie. But wait I'm confused...aren't we often told here by apologists that fab discontent makes no difference since "we have a 40,000 waiting list"?augie wrote:Guess who has just got a phone call from the box office offering season tickets for next season - yes that's right, myself and the missus have both been told that we are likely to be offered the chance to become a season ticket holder this summer![]()
Of course I fobbed them off by saying that it wouldn't be financially viable for me to take them up this summer and maybe if it was the following summer then I might be in a better position to sign up - naturally the guy told me that I wouldn't be allowed to defer as it wouldn't be fair to those behind me in the queue, and he also offered me the option of paying for them over a 7 or 10 month period (cant remember which) but I again said it isn't possible at the mo.
Last thing before I put down the phone I asked him what number am I in the season ticket queue, and he told me that I was around the 8500 markBasically approx. 8499 people ahead of me are going to be offered tickets and a sizeable portion will be rejecting that chance. Of course he tried to explain this away by suggesting that contact details for some of those people might be outdated and that for one reason or another some may not be able to purchase them - never one to miss an opportunity I asked if arsene wenger was one of those reasons, and he just repeated (in a nice way tbf) that there are a few different reasons. I finished up by telling him that I wouldn't buy a season ticket even if I could afford to, as long as wenger was there
Jeeez, who woulda thought there aren't just thousands of gormless tits "waiting to take your place". It's almost as if nobody will pay over the odds to watch mediocre shite! Still....nothing we can do...punters be just lining up to watch Arsenal in the flesh
If we finished outside the top 4 then the number handing back tickets would fall further still and I honestly believe most games would go to general sale

I see Bayern have their eye on the Sanchez contract negotiations looking to "make a move for him." Wenger says he's "confident of signing him to a new deal." The reality is Sanchez is probably waiting to see if Wenger is staying and if he is, he'll probably be off. Can you blame him???

AST to have a referendum apparently...Think we know what to expect ......
The Arsenal Supporters’ Trust commission an annual poll of fans’ and are preparing a new survey to distribute to 3,000 fans just as soon as the season ends.
A similar poll last year was of fewer than 700 fans but did actually record Wenger’s highest ever approval rating when 84 per cent either agreed or strongly agreed that their longest-serving manager was still the right man to be leading Arsenal.

Not sure that for this to be taken seriously they can do it like this any more as there will always be questions asked on the neutrality of a closed survey whether they like it or notRedarmy wrote:AST to have a referendum apparently...Think we know what to expect ......

Surely if they want to carry out a poll of fans it has to be done as openly as possible so there can be no question of a whitewash.
Which was my automatic reaction when last years results were shown, 84% in agreement always seemed very high to me, and exactly who did they ask

Elneny quoted as saying....
“I used to shoot a lot when I was at Basel but sometimes that doesn’t suit our style here,” Elneny said.
“[Wenger] taught me to be more of a team player and to be intelligent in terms of when I shoot. I also paid attention to my teammates and took their advice. That has helped me to improve my performances already”.

So along the lines of 'Mohammed we really don't do long range shooting at this club and we feel it would be in the best interests of our tippy-tappy style for you to desist immediately if you wish to retain your place in the team!'Redarmy wrote:Elneny quoted as saying....
