THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

fucking hell, this convinces me he is not going to walk away and will have to be forced out...forget about the polite "thanks for the memories"

Whole protest needs ramping up...make it hostile
But what about the climate at home against Norwich and Villa these smaller teams? Don't you realise that mental strength and £140k a week will only take the players so far. We are going to have to pull together to get win the 4th place VT.

:barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf:
They should present us with one of the handles.
Got to say, Wenger has brought his A game today in the bullshit stakes.
If he carrys on like this SteveO and DT will spontaneously combust.

"When you build a stadium, we had five to seven difficult financial years where we had to pay back: we had to be in the Champions League three years out of five and have an average attendance of 54,000 people. We didn't know we would be capable of that. We had to sell our best players every year to survive".

I dont know whats worse, the fact the clubs survival was leveraged against something Wenger wasn't sure he could achieve, or if he actually believes in his own mind, he was the difference between survival or oblivion.

To say he suffers from delusions of grandeur is an understatement.

"The best chance they can give our team is to be behind our team.

"Some groups of people try to manipulate our fans, and I believe apart from an agenda, a personal agenda, a big ego, there's not a lot behind it.”

So now its a conspiracy. We fans have been mislead by special interests opposed to Wenger. Get over yourself fuk-wit, we can and have thought for our-self, and we think your shit and need to go.

I always knew the protest would try to be de-legitimized, I just didnt think Wenger would find his inner grassy knoll and plead conspiracy.

Just as I predicted the rat is turning on all and sundry now that the push is in full swing. It's the home fans fault we didn't win the league and groups with agendas are manipulating the fans.

ok looking at this from another angle Wenger has quite clearly blamed the fans this morning for the team not winning enough matches this season.
this is clearly going to wind a lot fans up but maybe this is the intention?

I am of the opinion that the club are trying to get rid of a lot of the long standing season ticket holders this summer (the ones that protest)
ultimately the club wants the fanbase to consist of day trippers because they spend more on match day.
traditional supporters the club really can do without these days, as they have radical views such as trying to win things and wanting to finish in the top 4. it will be a lot easier for Wenger as he approaches 70 to just aim for comfortable mid table mediocrity. after all he still gets his money 8)

Unfortunately that is the US franchises model in action. A gravy train for owners, players, coaches, merchandisers, ticket touts, stub hub etc.

No fucking excuses. He should have won the title in 2008, 2010 and 2011 with the resources available. His failures there should have meant he was sacked by then. Now we've bottled the 2014 and 2016 titles. He really is a Specialist in Failure.

Five years later and he's still here :suicide:
100% Correct. Djrourou, Bendtner, Vela, Troare, Diaby, Walcott, Fabianski, Sczezny. All to feed Wenger's ego. He could have spent but he'd rather boost his ego instead.

Has the parasite just signed his own death warrant by blaming the fans for the team's failings? Surely it's all over now.

the thing is the fact that he has said this, means that the AKBs will believe it.
doesnt have to be true, it is said to encourage the view that we lost the title at home because the fans were not supporting the team....and so it is a (poor) attempt at quelling the unrest tomorrow

The guy generally comes out with crackpot statements, but I cant work out this one, due to the timing of it. Wenger knows he is in for dogs abuse tomorrow, and somehow thinks blaming the fans will help.
