As nutflush has correctly said - most people who voted for Brexit are disillusioned traditional Labour voters who have switched to UKIP.

Sadly those working class areas (which have had EU funding to assist them) are going to be the biggest losers of Brexit.

Most people ? That's a sweeping statement , I doubt Labour had 17 1/2 million votes at any election in recent times or ever.

I think if you read up on how political support has changed over the last 7 years, you will see large defections from working class Labour supporters to UKIP with Sunderland/North East a perfect example of this. If there was a general election today the Conservatives would win by a mile even on a proportional representation basis. Thankfully our first past the post system dissipated the amount of power UKIP should perhaps have. UKIP started with defections from the Conservative party/support but times change.

I accept that there has been Labour supporters defecting to UKIP so youre right there but most Brexiters are Labour defectors/supporters is just plain wrong.

fair enough it is not MOST but the point still stands - traditional working class Labour supporters are turning to UKIP

As are many tories too , the only ones to keep their numbers are the Lib Dems who are making a play for the disaffected in a bid to get back to having a foot under the table.

this is why I think AKBs are like leavers

AKBs - think they might be right on Wenger staying at the club
WOBs - know that they are right about Wenger and that he should leave

Leavers - think they might be right on the UK leaving the EU
Remainers - know that they are right about the EU and that the UK should stay

Well I am a 100% leaver . I want Wenger to go and I voted leave and don't regret either of them

Rob, how can you possibly accuse "Brexiteers" of being THICK at the same time as accepting nutty's assertion that MOST exit voters were Labour voters? :shock:

As for the generous EU funding for those "working class areas" is concerned.....you might want to have a think about the working class people who used to be employed building Ford vans before they lost their jobs to working class people in Slovenia. All funded by the EU with some of the money the U.K. has paid in . Or the UK fishing industry. Just two examples of how the EU has screwed the U.K. for decades.

The only thing I aspire to is working hard and being rewarded for it. I also aspire to tolerate other people no matter where they are from, I know it's hard for some brexiteers to grasp this but try it.

The stats don't include ex Labour supporters, however, UKIP is now imploding. Farage has gone and you can be sure millions of UKIP supporters will go back to Labour when they have a credible leader. Most Conservatives who originally liked the UKIP concept dropped them like a stone over the last few years, Douglas Carswell being the latest high profile example.

To say that Labour supporters supported remain is just totally disingenious, it's so much more complicated than that.

Absolutely its more complicated than that....... UKIP is nothing from now onwards IMO any future elections will see a massive loss of votes but you could say their job is done what do they stand for now?

its not hard for Bexiteers to understand again another silly sweeping (having a dig) statement...... Personally I'm in favour of immigration but controlled immigration - lets have Chinese bankers coming over here, Australian doctors, African financial consultants........ Nutty i know you're a city high flyer im sure with yachts in Bermuda and a crew standing by for your arrival whenever it suits, airmiles coming out of your earholes and you don't give care less about a low paid warehouse worker 'who hasn't tried has hard as you' but many many of these lower paid in society have had their wages go down by uncontrolled immigration and this has caused resentment. When these Chinese bankers make your wages go down i'm pretty sure you'd change your tone too, of course you will now say you'd start blogging to make thousands and it wouldn't affect you at all etc etc etc......

I'm happy to call myself a socialist (a swear word to you i'm guessing) and i care about the lower paid, less well off in society even if it hasn't directly affected me
