Its not like you to be pessimistic Augieaugie wrote:At the risk of sounding like the BBQ king (steve o), I am not worried about the higuain deal cos I'm not sure that I ever believed that we would buy him. This summer has all the makings of another transfer window shambles for AFC - appear to be after everybody, get caught up trying to negotiate 3 or 4 deals at the one time and then watch is our alleged targets get picked up one by one by the other clubs
When that happens we will hear the c**ts running our club spout dogshite about trying to sign some of the worlds best players and how that showed the ambitions/intent/wealth of the club all the while depending on an injury prone 2nd division rookie from france

I don't blame you though, its got to the stage where we have been so used to ODLs flattering to deceive that its the hope of something changing that kills us all

For what its worth I actually think that this season will be the turning point for a lot of fans. Its the first time the club have made such a big deal out of having a large "warchest" that if we just end up with the usual cheap French imports it might wake up a lot of fans to what we have known for years about Le Fraud.
We saw earlier last season that the press are not afraid to sharpen their knives for Arsene and he was put under pressure that had previously been unprecedented. One more Groundhog season might just be the straw that breaks the camels back.
Thats the hope that I cling on to

Re: SUMMER TRANSFER THREAD
I'm still fairly hopeful of the deal going through. Not because of our great transfer negotiations, but because Madrid are obviously willing to let him go despite them trying to play a bit of hardball by the looks of it, he obviously wants to come and the one aspect everybody seems to agree on is that personal terms have been sorted and aren't an issue, and most importantly there's been several weeks for somebody to try and hijack the deal but nobody has yet.
Re: SUMMER TRANSFER THREAD
Big breaking news from Spain as Barcelona confirm they have reached an agreement in principle for the transfer of striker David Villa to Atletico Madrid - intresting

Re: SUMMER TRANSFER THREAD
and mean while all our comeptetion continue to sign players,we are a fucking joke.big intentions my fucking arse,we are so small time Im half expecting our opening day game to have Sanogo playing up top as our only signing

Re: SUMMER TRANSFER THREAD
For 2 million???The David Villa deal is estimated at a maximum of 5.1 million, spread over 2.1 million this year, 2 million more if the player belongs to Atletico Madrid season 2014/15 and another million if it extends his contract until the season 2015/16. In addition, the club reserves 50% of the rights to future transfer of the player.

David Villa has agreed to join At. Madrid. Six months ago Arsenal tried hard to get him. Not now
Re: SUMMER TRANSFER THREAD
Meanwhile the BBC have just posted this under transfer gossip
"Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has dismissed speculation Gonzalo Higuain is about to join Arsenal by revealing the London club are yet to make an offer for the Argentina international.
Higuain, who told the media on the final day of the Primera Division season that he was going to leave Madrid in the summer, was reported to be on the verge of a £23millon move to the Emirates Stadium.
However, during an interview with Univision, Perez insisted: "We don't want Higuain to leave. What's more no-one from Arsenal has come to us and made us any offers at all for him. There are no offers on the table." "

This really doesn't surprise me at all. I have this feeling that Sanogo it is then for this year and Wenger will get a contract renewal. Gazidis next year - 'We really really really are going to spend big this year, I mean it!'

Re: SUMMER TRANSFER THREAD
Have to say that is cheap as fuck for Villa - even if we signed Higuain I would also without doubt take David Villa at that price, even on quite high wages - negates the risk element of the transfer.

The deal is set to bring Barca a maximum of 5.1 million Euros, with 2.1 due this season, 2 more if Villa stays at Atletico next year and another million should he be at the Madrid club the season after. Barça also reserve the right to 50% of any sell on fee in the future. I'm not a fan of Mario Gomez but £17m is a good price for him. I'm surprised that he hasn't joined a bigger club. And speaking of Fiorentina, does anyone remember Stevan Jovetic?
Bayern Munich agree to sell striker Mario Gomez to Fiorentina for £17m
Bayern Munich have agreed to sell the Germany striker Mario Gomez to Fiorentina for £17m.
The Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has reached a deal with the Fiorentina president Andrea Della Valle, with a contract still to be finalised.
Rummenigge said: "It was Mario Gomez's wish to leave Bayern in the direction of Florence. We've now granted his wish."
Gomez joined Bayern from Stuttgart for a then Bundesliga record fee of £30m in 2009. Bild reported that Fiorentina will pay €16m (£13.7m) rising to €20m (£17.2m) for the 27-year-old forward who scored 112 goals in 172 games for Bayern.

80% of ST holders: "I really think this is the summer that we'll spend big! Let's give Arsene one more chance, the past 18 transfer windows didn't provide quite enough evidence! If he doesn't spend big, then I definitely won't renew next season"!begeegs wrote:This really doesn't surprise me at all. I actually think Gomez would have been a good signing for us at that price- a proven goalscorer, a winner and an accomplished finisher for £14m up front is an excellent dealRed Gunner wrote:I'm not a fan of Mario Gomez but £17m is a good price for him. Re: SUMMER TRANSFER THREAD
I fear this is going to go to the final days of the window, like 2010/11 summer.
