Cesc in Barca shirt!
I'm not even going to bother discussing this with you further if you truly believe that Cesc handed in a transfer request. Stop being so irrational and think about it logically. You may first have to put your anger aside to be able to see things more clearly. Let me run through the whole saga for you so that you can understand it.
Cesc gets asked in an interview while with spain about barca, as he has done many times. He says that one day returning to barcelona isn't out of the question.
Newspapers get wind of this and start printing stories about cesc wanting a move to barca THIS SEASON.
They then start printing that he has asked for a transfer request. The worst thing here is that people start believing this, as you have evidently shown.
Remember, at this point Arsenal haven't even had an offer yet from barca, and no one is publicly commenting on it.
Barca finally make an offer for cesc.
Cesc has a meeting with wenger where cesc, in his first public interview on the matter says that he has had the "greatest conversation of his life" with wenger, and that, i quote, "it is up to arsenal and whoever it may be (not mentioning barca specifically) the manager has told me not to worry about it and the matter is not in my hands"
Now, think about this logically, if cesc has supposedly made a transfer request, why would he hold a conversation with wenger, and then describe it as the "greatest conversation i've ever had", and then go on to say that it is up to the club if they want to sell him or not?
Why would a player, who is supposedly intent on leaving by handing in a transfer request, say what is the complete opposite in his official interview with sky? Why would someone who desperately wants to leave say that the matter is not up to him? Surely, if he was that desperate to leave he would be pushing for the transfer rather than saying it is up to Arsenal to decide if they want to sell him or not.
You see, when you think about it logically it doesn't make sense. And all you're basing your accusations of cesc handing in a transfer request, are shit stirring stories run by the tabloids. I always have trouble understanding why people choose to believe what these "papers" say, especially when there is evidence to the contrary right in front of their eyes.

Im not angry, but what winds me up is this perception that cesc is whiter than white, and he's not. He's treating us and our club like shit.MM99 wrote:I'm not even going to bother discussing this with you further if you truly believe that Cesc handed in a transfer request. You forget to mention any of the numerous occasions when he has said he would love to go back to Barca at some stage.
Nobody is saying cesc is whiter than white, mate. But what some of us are saying is that he deserves a bit more credit than you're giving him for. Also, in the case that i'm trying to make, that cesc isn't to blame for some of the things that have gone on.
Also regarding the one day going back to barca comments that he has made, let's be honest, we all know he's going there one day, and to be fair cesc has never pretended otherwise. But what he has done is come out numerous times over the past few seasons saying that he is committed to arsenal for the time being and that he isn't looking any further at the moment. He is acknowledging that at some point in his future he may go to barcelona, but he is still saying that he is an arsenal player and that all he is conentrating on is Arsenal.
It's a bit like you playing for say Juventus, northbankbren, as a player, and hearing that Arsenal, a team you have always supported, are interested in you. Would you not want to at least play for Arsenal once during your career?

Playing against Barcelona for ten minutes with a broken foot isn't that amazing. Much as I dislike him him, Mark Hughes played an entire season before being told that he'd been playing with a broken ankle!
Now that's hardcore.
And Bert Trautmann played in goal for Germany in the 1950s with a broken neck!
So don't give me all this prima donna 'fighting through the pain' bullshit. For the money they're earning they fucking well should be expected to play on.
I'm not even from this era, but recognise that today's batch of stars (note: not footballers) are a bunch of whining pussies.

Im the star midfeilder and captain for Juve

Arsenal make it public they are going to look to sign me. I would go to my manager and tell him that Arsenal is my dream move and would they be willing to deal with Arsenal (imo this is what cesc has done). Juve say no. I would then tell my manager that I will see out my contract and leave on a free at the end of it. As i wouldnt have commited myself long term my dream move would be at most 2 seasons away. This would give Juve the opportunity to either deal with Arsenal or accept that I leave free at the end of my contract.
Either way once Arsenal had shown official interest I would make a statement to the Juve fans. Letting them know that Arsenal are my team and if Juve wish to deal with them I will be leaving, but also state that if Juve dont want to sell me that I will not be breaking my contract but will be leaving at the end of it.
I know the Juve fans wont be happy to lose such a great player but as club captain it would be my duty to be honest to the fans of the club.
....how good would it to be in that predicament

Under those circumstances, I'm fairly sure that if YOU were a Juve supporter you'd now be banging on about loyalty and how he should just "fuck off to Arsenal"northbankbren wrote:If i was a player for juve my life would be different and i would be a different person (prop turn into a greedy sodMM99 wrote:Nobody is saying cesc is whiter than white, mate. Im the star midfeilder and captain for Juveand Arsenal want to buy me. First I wouldnt sign a long term deal with Juve at any point as my heart is in north london. I would sign short term deals 2 years tops as I know im class and know Arsenal are interested from afar, also I wouldnt want to walk away after commiting myself to juve for a long period.

That's the problem, you see - you're irrational. You can pretend that Cesc has shit on Arsenal if you want, but all he's done is what we always knew he would... he wants to go home. Oh, and at least by signing a long contract Cesc is guaranteeing Arsenal a massive pay day when he does join his boyhood club, whereas your tactic would deprive Juve of that as Arsenal would simply wait until you were towards the end of your contract and sign you on the cheap, as they usually do.
Honestly, what you've just described as 'your way' is far worse for the fans than what Cesc has done, and if he'd acted that way with Arsenal, you'd be up in arms even more than you are now!

at first i was angry with cec for all of this. But then i thought about it. at least Cesc has the choice to leave Arsenal. The way the team is right now and our *word censored* of a manager i wish i had that choice too. Sad thing is i am ARSENAL TIL I DIE. i have to put up with this shit just like we all do. You cant blame cesc for going or wanting to go.

I have to dissagree though. I would far prefer Cesc to make a statement of his intent. If he wants to go fair enough, id actually have more respect for him if he done this.

FC Barcelona Internal Memo - FAO all players.
Estimados jugadores de FC Barcelona, por favor, find attached el schedule por el talking jibber-jabber de Cesc Fabregas.
Wednesday July 15th - Lionel Messi: Please mention the fact you played with Cesc in the youth team at Barcelona. Do not mention you were 3'2 at the time or, indeed, are 3'2 now. Or we'll stop giving you your growth sweeties.
Thursday July 16th - Xavi: Despite the fact you are one of the most senior players and your performances on the pitch cannot be faulted in any way we believe your jibber-jabbering requires some work. We know you love Cesc's DNA, and long to slurp it up from ornate goblets, but please do not mention it, his head or his heart. Should you feel the need to talk about his internal organs, his genetic make up or even his hairstyle, please note that your statement will require approval.
Friday July 17th - Gerard Pique: We would prefer you didn't say anything at all but do you think you could spit on Arsene Wenger when he's not looking? We have every confidence that you can fulfill this task but please remember if carrying this out in a very public place there may be cameras.
Saturday July 18th - Sergio Busquets: You will play a crucial role in the capture of Cesc. If and when Arsenal negotiate we want you with us. When given the signal you will fall to the ground under the slightest contact screaming as if every bone in your body has been shattered. When Gazidis goes to check you're all right we shall put Cesc under our coat and make a break for it. You may use your patented peekaboo to ensure the coast is clear before you magically heal and leave the room. If they capture you we will go on without you.
Sunday July 19th - Andrés Iniesta: You are excused from this current round of public tapping-up but for God's sake man go get some sun. You look like a footballing corpse. There have been complaints from some parents that their children are having nightmares about you. 'The man with the face of a phantom' they call you. Sort it.
Monday July 20th - Carles Puyol: Puyol make caveman noise. Puyol beat chest. Puyol eat meat. Puyol good. Good Puyol. Goooooood Puyol.
Further schedule details will follow early next week. Also, please note that Sandro Rosell must now be referred to you as 'Your Majesty' or 'Your Holy Awesomeness'. Anyone failing to do so will be made go for a sleepover with Pique and Ibrahimovic.
Your cooperation, as always, is much appreciated.
yours etc,
The Barcelona board.
ps - we will be paying your wages at some point in the next few weeks. We're not broke at all. Don't believe the papers.
pps - a percentage of your wages will be paid via the issuing of shares in the company. You all get a billion each which is worth ... erm ... loads. Trust us. When these stock options hit the roof. Kerching. Quids in, lads. Honest!
ppps - to the smart arse who left the 'Haven't you learned your lesson buying players off Arsenal yet?' message in the suggestion box, har har. Have a nice time in New York, asshole.
