Have to disagree - thought we lacked that final ball he specializes in all day long. In think if United had gotten out of first gear at any point coulld easily have been opunished for that. We did well and held our nerve in the end certain and crdit is due to several players really - Ramsey obviously and Wilshere, Koscielny, Szczesny, and Djourou, and later Arshavin - and I'm sure others will name some others, but I wouldn't take too much from today other than sheer delight and making United suffer and maybe - just maybe - denying them the Premiership before its done.ThomasMitchell wrote:Well we certainly didn't miss him, if the result is anything to go by. MANCS HOME THREAD
Ridiculous comment. Cesc is a quality player & you don't just get rid of quality players because someone else had a good game in his place. Strength in depth is an issue at The Arsenal & anyone who thinks we'd be better off without Cesc is retarded in my opinion.ThomasMitchell wrote:I couldn't care less if we never see him again.
Good afternoon in the sun anyway, Ramsey was indeed excellent. Pleased he got the goal. Utd very poor, despite help from Chris Foy. As has been said before this league really was their for the taking this year if only we'd shown a bit of ambition in the summer/january.

I knew we would win today. Just to rub salt in our wounds. Holding on against Liverpool and Spurs would have had us right in the mix.
Then again, can't see us taking all 3 points away at Fulham.

5 and 6 (norfbank west) do and the stewards leave em alone. NB lower was up for 90 mins against the filth and the Barcawhores which was good to see.safcftm wrote: The United lot will just be doing the exact same. A whole block of the home support should try it, they cant kick you all out!
Re the game that Wilshere/Rambo combo looked wankable. I'm a fan of Song but we should spend big on a top class DM next year to fully utilise these 2.
I agree. Get a monster DM in and then pick 3 from the following 6 for midfield:SWLGooner wrote:5 and 6 (norfbank west) do and the stewards leave em alone. New DM
Song
Wilshere
Ramsey
Frimpong
Coquelin
(I'm assuming Cesc goes btw)
Sorry Chippy but I think that was a wrong call.Chippy wrote:Finally decided not to go. Couldn't even give the tickets away yesterday.![]()
Strange atmosphere outside, like it was Emirates Cup. But I thought Arsenal were superb throughout and atmosphere went up a few notches as well. I'd forgotten how much I enjoy beating United and pre-match doubts about whether I wanted to win soon disappeared.
And glad to say that you only had to hear the disappointment in Wenger's voice in the post match to know that this hasn't papered over the cracks.
What a shit referee though. The Vidic handball was the clearest penalty I've seen for a long time!

Nothing to do with the fact "someone else had a good game in his place" (don't think I mentioned that anywhere in my previous posting). Everything to do with the fact that he does not want to play for us anymore (and if you ask how I know that, look at his attitude during the closed season when all the Barcelona rumours were circulating).Dan_85 wrote:Ridiculous comment. Well that was a game that the cynic in me didn't expect us to win. But it was deserved considering the ref and the actions of certain Manky Spew players. 1-0 is fine by me, glad I didn't bet money on it.
The positives would first and foremost have to be Rambo, I didn't know Cesc was injured but paring up Wilshere with Ramsey looked brilliant, both looked up for the game, Ramsey was understandably cautious in what is ususually a physical match, but if Cesc does leave us this summer we could do a lot worse then those two in Midfield come the first game, we didn't miss him at all. Glad to see Rambo score out of all of them.
The atmosphere was better but I wouldn't call it fantastic, although was nice to see more chants going around, the players themselves showed more hunger and passion then we have been used to in reecent games, but again still needs improvement really.
However as mentioned before, the Ref being an utter baised t**t most of the time despite giving them mroe yellows, should have shown red to Evra for the handball and I feel Rooney should have walked as well. The Mancs seemed happy to go in hard on us. The subs worried me a lot as well, Arshavin had one of his better games for us at least, although I was expecting a classic manc comeback and us to bottle it once Squillaci and Eboue came on, two players I never wanted to see pull on the shirt again.
Crossing the ball, please do that less and take the defenders on more, so much more effective when we run at them. I hope Djourou just picked up a minor knock and will start the next game too.
Plus some tart in front of me turned around and had a go at me when I moaned about Squillaci coming on,
then left 6 minutes before the end
I stayed to the end at least. Amazingly not once was "One Arsene Wenger" sang.
Ultimately this doesn't show Wenger was right all along, one game doesn't excuse a season of bottling it, forgive the despondant nature mind. But this game is a reminder of what could have been, had we displayed more of this hunger and drive in prior games and not dropped so many points this could have been the game that wrapped the title up for us. Against all odds we are still in with a shout but I won't place my eggs in one basket. The fact we wiped that superior smirk off Big Noses face is enough for me to be content for today at least.

Fair point about the final ball but in reality have we not missed that is so many games this season even when Fabregas has been playing? And as you say we can't take too much from today - although I am sure Wenger will trot out the usual comments about how close we are to the moaners and one last push next season will be enough.USMartin wrote:Have to disagree - thought we lacked that final ball he specializes in all day long. The best argument for getting rid of cesc is his gammy hamstrings imo.
When he hasnt been out injured this season he's been running at a snails pace to avoid aggravating his hamstrings. I fear he played too much too young and we'd probably be best getting wonga for him this summer and bringing in (imo) a proper centre forward with pace and moving RvP back into the cesc/shrek role.
