True, there are very few clubs he could/would go to.....forget $hitty - I'm sure he has seen what has happened to the BIG signings who have gone there and ended up on the bench...so it would only ne either barca or r.Madrid..and neither have (yet) expressed an interest in him...

My thoughts exactly, if he does leave it will be to either Real Madrid or Barcelona.

He would never go to City, not only because of their track record of 'big signings' but also that he loves this club, the picture of the him as a young chap in his Arsenal kit is testament to that. And at the end of the day Real Madrid and Barcelona will be able to match whatever wage City offer to within a few thousand a week at the very least. Van Persie has an amount of class about him, unlike a certain half season wonder.

That said, if Arsenal do finish in the top four I can't see him leaving.

As I said already, I dont believe that rvp will go to juve but if any italian is looking at the prem league lately do you not think that they would label it as rife with cheating diving b*****ds (ashley young, dogbreath and suarez to name just 3) ? Secondly on what are you basing your belief that we are a bigger and better club than juve ? :? How many italian league honours and european cup honours have they compared to us ? I mean if you are talking about the wealth of each club then yes we are far richer but they are a football club ran as a football club whilst we are run like a corner shop and that is why they will be bringing home a league trophy while we will be bringing home f**k all   :x :x

Can I add by saying that if I was rvp and the senile old fool gave me a 72 hour ultimatium then I wouldnt be slow about telling him where to shove it - rvp is entitled to see what ambition our club has by it's summer dealings so why should he commit himself on the back of blind faith in wenger's words ? Many on here have been stung in the past by believing wenger's hollow promises and I would like to think that rvp has more sense to believe in wenger's words anymore

At least when he does leave it'll show the Wenger project up for what it is - a nursing home for never will-be's and a development ground for decent players to go on somewhere where they'll play for a manager capable of winning trophies

Why should rvp's departure be needed to prove that ? How many more of our better players need before the akb's realise that the few winners will not hang around with wenger's pet project ? If these people still need more proof after the departure's of cesc, nasri and clichy then maybe they will never accept what is before their eyes

LMFAO that one is defo being re-quoted on August 31 2012, at 11.59 pm!!!

It still amazes me how deluded and unaware some people are. RVP loves this club so much, he ain't signed that new deal eh? Were does this love come from, was he on the terraces at Highbury? Ha ha ha.

I also remember people claiming Cole (an actual Arsenal fan) would never go Chelski, and that Fabregas loved us too much to go. Hilarious.

Let's see what RVP says when Citeh dangle a £250k a week contract for 4 years under his nose, a guaranteed chance to at least fight for the title, CL football and you know, the odd trophy.

Why would RVP join Juve anyways? After all, they 'only' have is it 2 CL trophies? And they're on the verge of winning the league unbeaten you say?

Yeah. Who needs that when you have the '4th place trophy'....

Worryingly, many Arsenal fans are becoming the new Liverpool fans with the levels of delusion I read around here....

RVP loves the club so did Henry and Vieira love the club but they left. His love of the club aint gonna to win him any medals is it?.City will be challenging next season so why wouldnt he join them and they wouldnt run him into the ground like Wenger has this season

Agree with Baba about our deluded fans.

There's a difference though. Diving in the premiership isn't accepted at all and is universally frowned upon by all players and managers with the exception of those who engage in it. The media also pick upon it and criticise it at every turn (unless the player is English or Rooney of course, but that's an entirely different point). In Italy it is part of their footballing culture, I wouldn't go so far as to say it is encouraged by it certainly hasn't got the stigma it carries here. Watching any Serie A match you would think several players have got an eye on Oscar night, the acting performances they put in are nothing short of award worthy.

As for the bigger club remark, Serie A is a much easier league compared to the Premiership and so in no way can Arsenal's 8 year league drought be compared with Juventus winning a division against teams who would more than likely be relegated in England. Juventus also draw a lot of games and even though this in itself isn't a criticism, when you take into account the fact that they've almost drawn as many games as they have won it becomes a lot less 'impressive' to be undefeated, especially against the level of opposition.

The shadow of corruption will also hang over their league for many years to come. Who's to say they aren't bribing officials again? Has their entire culture of football been cleansed? No, they targeted a few individual scapegoats for the blame. The majority of those involved in the fixing of matches are still very much present in the league system. In fact, almost every year there is a match fixing scandal.

Babatunde, please do remember to post that if Van Persie does go to City and I will happily hold my hands up and admit that I was wrong.
