Sutch mate I'm basing it on what I've seen of him in a whole year in France. He's what Gignac or Guivarch or Pierre-Alain Frau all were. Plenty have ripped Ligue 1 in a one off season. Giroud is gash mate I'm telling you. The worst is yet to come.
listing random players from the French league like Gignac, Guivarch, PAF et al proves nothing - I could just respond with a list of Papin, Weah and Henry
Giroud is none of those players, he had one excellent season
and so far he's had one sub appearance in England - he should have scored
writing him off after it is stupid, lets hope he can be a big success

just like last season when I asked for available alternates to Arteta (who you wrote off but IMO has been a good player for us) Mertesacker (the same) and Ox (you slated him as not what we need)

I'll ask again this year - who would you buy instead of Cazorla, Podolski and Giroud?

0-0 not the result we wanted, and it clearly looked like we had a few players who haven't played together. but ffs give it a few weeks, bashing the team on the first game, some positives to be taken

players are still trying to get match fitness,

Agree with you to a point but there can be no excuses for the likes of walnut and diaby - these c**ts have played with us long enough now and still show fcuk all to suggest that they good enough :x Wally showed yet again that if the opposition backline sit deep leaving no space behind, he has nothing else to bring to the table and is limited a footballer as you are likely to see in the division

martin o'neill always puts out a tough team to beat and they hardly got out their own half in the second half.

i thought gervinho and arteta did okay, pod was always there goalhanging getting his foot in, and Cazorla was class, great vision and touch and he shot when he had the chance.

the backs looked wobbly with the three first choices all out,but surprisingly Diaby seemed to put a shift in to protect them and arteta and gervingo always tracked back.b

where we really fell down today was the poor passing and crossing from the full backs, a number of times decent spells of pressure came to a screaming halt with a bad cross from Gibbs.

there is only so many last ditch blocks and tackles that can let a team off the hook who's under sustained pressure. we couldn't keep the pressure on.

and a number of breaks were stopped when passes were over hit or the ball given away by mostly Gibbs again.

the terrible miss aside I thought Giroud looked okay. his runs were well timed.

walcott was poor,it was a shame ox was out.

so mostly positives but a frustrating day. we need Sagna and santos back bb

and the spuds lost.

Could have been any game from the past 5 seasons. Arsenal struggling for a plan B against 10 men behind the ball? Who'd have guessed?! :banghead:

Anyone else think that both full-backs made really bad decisions today? I felt at times they held on to the ball too long when there was a good opportunity to put it in the box, and the times they should have held onto the ball, they crossed it?

Judging by some of the stuff we've seen over the last few years, do they actually do this 'training' thing?

Yes, Jenkinson was very guilty of this, Gibbs needs to remember he is a fullback first before being a winger.

Cazorla is quality, that's the void filled after Cesc leaving.

Bit harsh on Giroud, he came on, put himself about and missed a good chance.

Van Cuntface missed plenty of chances in his time, some perspective is needed.

Saw a stat the other day, van persie missed the most clear cut chances of any player in the prem last season.

How they define a clear cut chance I have no idea, it was on twitter

It happens, until he gives us a Bendtner v Burnley performance you have to put it down to being rusty.
