Are we realistically going to spend 30 million on him though?spendsum4uckingmoney wrote:Pretty sure he has a 30m buy back clause.NG34Gooner wrote:Would love to see him in an Arsenal shirt next year but I struggle to see why Barca would let him go given the age of Xavi. I could see him coming back to England for sure in the future, either man city in a few years time, or back to us when he's 34 and needs one last pay cheque!

Re: Cesc to return?
I wish he'd never left, but I don't think players should ever go back. It will seem like a failure to him (because it would be) and he was a bit sulky and lethargic in his last year with us.
The talk here is that Barca feel he's not quite up to the tippy-tappyness of Iniesta or Xavi and not a false 9. He wants more game time, but they've got some very good youngsters coming through and if Barca went after a mega-target they might offer Cesc as part of the deal.

No way. Board will be waiting for counting 50% sell on clause money.NG34Gooner wrote:Are we realistically going to spend 30 million on him though?spendsum4uckingmoney wrote:Pretty sure he has a 30m buy back clause.NG34Gooner wrote:Would love to see him in an Arsenal shirt next year but I struggle to see why Barca would let him go given the age of Xavi. No one in the home likes him anymore. Little prick deserved it for whoring himself.

Amazing that jenkinson is lauded as a Gooner and talk about how great it must be for him to play for his boyhood club and yet we criticise/condemn cesc for wanting to do the same thing

Re: Cesc to return?
The only thing I found disappointing in the cesc saga was the way he stayed silent for months and months. I thought at the time that the club had earned a bit of forthright honesty from him rather then just leaving his barca mates to launch a media campaign. But hey, that's just me and its a relatively minor offence compared to the way van judas and a hole went about disrespecting and shitting over the club they both claimed to love.
Would take cesc back in an instant

Re: Cesc to return?
seen lots in twitter saying they wouldn't have him, surprising (and hard to believe)
reality is we sign vanPursestrings, Cashley and Na$ri - then won something, a lot of opinions would instantly switch
as Augie said ~Cesc signed for his boyhood club, if he'd been open to going anywhere he'd have cost a lot more

Re: Cesc to return?
Despite a bit of disappointment over his last half a season at the club Cesc Fabregas pretty much carried this football club from 2006-2010. If you're looking for other real standout individuals in that time you could have a season from Flamini and half a season from Adebayor, gets pretty hard-pressed after that. Fabregas is a fucking immense footballer and made the experience of watching and supporting the club during that period immensely more enjoyable. Not even a debate to be had as far as I'm concerned.

I would happily welcome Cesc back tomorrow with open arms - he is world class - and has yet to show (or be allowed to demonstrate) his full potential at barca yet.
Re: Cesc to return?
I think far too much is made of this ''Cesc's 'boyhood club'' thing.augie wrote:Amazing that jenkinson is lauded as a Gooner and talk about how great it must be for him to play for his boyhood club and yet we criticise/condemn cesc for wanting to do the same thingRohan wrote:No one in the home likes him anymore. As far as I'm concerned Fabregas left for pretty much the same reasons van Persie did. And I don't blame either of them so I'm not having a go at Fabregas.
Obviously Cesc going to Barcelona meant he didn't get the vitriol that RvP has received but lets not kid ourselves that it was so different - or just all about the lure of fulfilling his dream to play for his boyhood club. If that was his dream then why did he leave them in the first place? He was there and they didn't want him to leave, he chose to leave.
Not comparable to Jenkinson in my opinion.
And also, didn't Fabregas once spend a day with Real Madrid (with Wenger's permission

As for him returning to Arsenal, he belongs to an era I would rather forget but I wouldn't say no to it. At least he would be a signing of guaranteed quality. I suspect the rumours are part of the annual season ticket renewal time lies though.
