Isn't this the wonderful and responsible midfielder we've heard so much about. Well, thanks to him we lost the opportunity to go for the win at the end of a tight game and now he'll miss some key matches against the likes of the Mickeys and the Mancs

I'm just hopeful that old has been Arteta can live up to the expectations of cutting his sleeves off at the elbows and charging around shouting at everyone playing 'mock hardman'
Over simplification of what Flamoney offers but the bit in red is brilliant!

One of those games last night – the old “respect the point” scenarios, we were under the cosh for 60% of that game and at half time had we been told 2-2 I think we would have all taken it!

Two beautiful goals though, and Ozil was simply superb in that second half.

Whether we win the league or not will depend on how we do against the big sides and nothing new has changed there, the Ramsey news (if confirmed) is a blow considering how well he has played – Flamini is a miss now too – absolutely no complaints with that Red, something you have to accept with him, he is liable to go diving in its how he plays.

Koscielny was absolutely superb last night, he has been all season, comfortably one of the best in the league now.

I did think he would shuffle it a bit for Sunday given the run coming up, but he wont want to drop anymore points this week and with a week till the Scousers I expect the strongest side possible, with perhaps Gibbo coming in for Monreal who had a poor game last night by his standards.

Pulis will half two deep banks of four and we will have to break them down – to be fair he has sorted Palace out no end – even if its his usual anti-football brand!

He remains an enigma, but I do seem to remember DB10 being a bit like that fairly often
Had one of his best games in a while last night, second half especially. One of the few who actually seemed interested in driving things forward...
Agree I was at the match last night.
Could not believe the first half, completely overran in midfield and Saints should have put the game out of reach.
we could not string any passes together , no one bossing the midfield and offering an outlet if we did win the ball missed Jack/Ramsey big time.
Nacho completey at fault for their opening goal - just crumbled under the challenge , admittedly Fonte is a lot taller but at least try and challenge not crumple - f-ing hopeless and offered nothing much in width when we had the ball.A complete f up in the 2nd half when should have hit the target, instead into row z.
thought Kos/Per and WS kept us in it .
2nd half was much better and we had them on the rack for 10 mins , but again could not believe that they equalised , we just switched off

Ozil in particular was much better and offered an outlet for us and always did something positive with the ball, I think he rose to the challenge , a brilliant run with real pace and unlucky not to score, I thought he gave his all, but we just didnt have the runners for him to pass to.
when Flam was sent off I was glad it was all over
overall very lucky to get a point.
Hope it makes wenger realise we need to strengthen

can but hope

First half was defiantly one to forget. Obviously, the second was an improvement.

Lacked a bit of creativevity in the middle, with Özil being the exception of course.

Not too despondent, but tougher games lie ahead. :barscarf:

isn't this the first time flaminis been sent off for arsenal, so its hardly in his character to get sent off.

now the defense has protection, is it a coincidence we have been more defensively sound?

some may say we are more fluid without him in the side and arteta (imo a never was been) playing instead, but that's worked really well for the last few seasons hasn't it?????

Hmm..seem to remember a few of us getting shot down when we suggested what an irresponsible prick he can be. Apparently he has a great disciplinary record.....well he will for the next 4 games anyway

Claude Makelele never saw a straight red in his career and he's one of the best holding midfielders modern football has seen - so I'm not accepting it as an occupational hazard of Flamini's role. If this was likely to be an isolated incident I wouldn't mind but this has hardly come out of left field. He will no doubt let us down again with his idiotic lunging.

I wouldn't mind so much but I can't recall another tackle made by Flamini (or Arteta) all night, they were so far away from their midfield counterparts.

Two holding midfielders and neither of them even in shot tracking back when they cut back the ball for their second goal as I recall.

Funny for the first time, boring now...just like SteveO. We are what we are, just give it a rest please

Have a day off lee ffs

This initially started as a tongue in cheek comment but it was deemed to be a lucky omen by hlebby who got Falkirk goon posting it again for good luck 8) This forum is allowed to have a bit of light hearted craic you know - everytime you post lately it appears that you are complaining about somebody else's post
Was just about to post something augie, thanks for explaining. 8) As outlined above, I asked Falkirk to keep posting that 'axiom' as it seemed to correspond with us getting good results, and we've yet to lose when he does it. :barscarf: He even took the time out from his holiday to post the 'lucky omen'. :bowing21: :bowing21: You should be praising Falkirk Gooner for his sterling work in aid of the Arsenal cause, not criticising!!
Thanks lads, just read back at the thread and noticed this 8) :barscarf:

I think Makalele proved the exception rather than the rule.
Keane got 11 red cards for United, Vieira got eight playing for us.

Players who tackle in midfield will pick up reds now and again, the refs are strict and sometimes players that have a winning edge to them can go over that edge.

But yes, Flamini was stupid to dive in two footed and has sailed close to the wind before.

I remember someone asking me what my best 11 was and I had Makelele ahead of Roy Keane and Viera and he just wouldn't let it go. IMO as great as Viera and Keane were, Makelele made Chelsea formidable and I hated seeing Viera get sent off so much.
