Seconded, but it's his new team first competitive debut and he did himself justice.

He will have wobbly games because he is only 19 but for now thank you very much Southampton.

Very convincing victory, even if both sides weren't playing their strongest XI.

Two pieces of silverware in the cabinet. Roll on the new season. :barscarf:

I suppose it is easy to look world class when you are replacing le postman
Giroud's ego is big enough, there's no need for BT to blow smoke up his asrse

Love the look of Chambers :barscarf: :barscarf:

Can't ask for much more than that. Very impressive tempo first half and thought we showed good awareness and discipline when City were in possession, didn't look like breaking us down when we got men in behind the ball. Second half was predictably a bit more subdued but a great goal from Giroud and we were relatively untroubled.

Not reading a huge amount into it given it's essentially a repeat of 12 months ago. I think the gaps that appeared a few times first half may have been exploited had the likes of Aguero and Silva been playing, Toure was ineffective as going with those 2 up front saw them completely overrun in midfield and we can justifiably point out that we have a few big players missing too. Still a bit worried that the full-backs were too keen to maraud forward but overall don't think we did much wrong at all. I also don't get bringing on Flamini to run around like a blue-arsed fly which he did too often last year - pointless seeing him popping up in the attacking third and tripping over his own feet and busting a gut to get on the end of a ball.

Thought the new signings all gave a new account of themselves. Sanchez scared them shitless with his running and with a better striker than Sanogo might have had a hand in a goal or two. Debuchy had a solid game and what a novelty to see a decent cross from our right flank! Chambers had a few shaky moments in the first half but grew into the game and given his age, experience and previous position I think he can be really pleased with how he did.

Boyata is not a CB. Clichy is not a RB but I still wouldn't say no to getting Nastasic as he won't have the Belgian Squillaci as a partner.

Understand the optimism but we aren't going to play Boyata,Navas and Clichy every week. :(

city were abysmal.

chambers looked good, debuchy looked okay, Dirty had a lovely first touch.

jack tried hard, rambo was outstanding. sanogo made some nice runs but first touch let him down.

two lovely goals, all in all a nice pre-season run out.

lovely to see big Pat handing out the trophy and medals. Legend.

Very good performance against a very uninterested City side.

Impressed with Sir Chez, Debouchy, Chambers & Caz.

Nice to see Sanogo get an assist. I thought Sanchez was poor on the ball. He made some bad decisions, refusing to shoot when having t he opportunity and failing to pass to Sanogo during his 1st breakway. He is VERY fast though and full of energy. Just not a good performance.

Calling it now, we'll win the title this season, and that's not based on today.

So why didn't you call it yesterday then ? Or last week ? Sometimes I wonder if you read your comments before posting

I reckon we'll go close. But so will Man Utd and Chelsea.
