Well that was sh*t.

Results more important than performance but defend set pieces like that on Tuesday night and Demba Ba is going to score a F**king hat trick of headers.
How hard is it to mark the tallest f**king bloke on the pitch. The more i see of Chambers, the more I like. Him and Kos will be our 1st choice partnership soon.

But no matter how good you are as a defender, you are doing it one hand tied behind your back if your tactics for set pieces are all over the shop.

pros - Kos, Debuchy, Chambers, Monreal. Ramsay. Giroud.

cons - jack, sanogo, zonal marking, poor team selection and tactics.

Sanchez, linked up with monreal and giroud well. crossing was pants.

santi - mixed game, couldn't link with ox.

we got lucky. but Everton with Barkley out should beat us if wenger insists on that starting 11.

Wenger Out !

for all of 5 mins
thats why we got lucky - that and the scott dan injury.

our 'tactic' was to have our 2nd shortest player man mark him until he entered the "zonal marking' area.

utter bollocks of course.

I do love how we win in the last minute in the first game of the season after a WC and people still cry.

We can all see we are not quite there yet, but fuck me - all teams find it hard to play against teams who don't play and make sure the ball is not in play as much as they can.

We won, we have to and will improve and have world class players to join this group too - how many times have we spent moaning on here that we gave up when teams made life difficult for us, we didn't give up and got what we deserved.

Matt and Chambers looked very assured, Alexis is clearly going to be class and once our midfield clicks we will be a different animal - last week our threat was breaking quickly and that will be a huge asset in hand big games against teams who actually want to try and win.

Not an epic but a good win, we know this team plays on confidence and going into a very very tough week now we are full of it.

Yes, BUT we still Need a Striker - and to get shot of the postman...we also need a DFM Enforver and an experienced CB - Chambers is clearly going to be excellent, but he is too young to play for long periods of time should Coz or BFG get injured.

Monreal has only one weapon in his armoury, he is an excellent crosser of the ball. But am already wetting myself at the thought of him being 1st choice away at the blue dippers,Leicester and Besiktas.

Fucking love that guy :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf:

3 points we didn't deserve. Wish that we could chalk it down to first-day rustiness but the faults were predictable and familiar. We won't play like that every week but it's still worrying. Ox coming on finally injected some tempo and Sanchez started to look like a handful. But playing Sanogo is just completely and utterly indefensible and he seems fucking determined to keep doing it :banghead:

On the plus side I think Debuchy has acquitted himself well so far and really hope that he proves my scepticism wrong.

Have a read of what we are moaning about and ask yourself is this deja vous all over again.

why does he insist on playing 451 against the poorest attacking teams in the division ?

there are absolutely no excuses for not whipping palace 3-0 or 4-0 today. none.

AKB's living on "hope" again.

Exactly - it wasn't just a case of us being a leetle beet jaded today, it was the same mistakes that have cost us in the past and will continue to do so. Like our defending of set pieces. We have been shipping in goals from them in pre-season, we then conceded today and worryingly they managed to get a flick-on from a similar corner the next time. What is completely overshadowed from the Anfield debacle last season was that we gifted two early goals from set pieces there.

sonogo should never play again.

santi was fucking terrible, so was wilshire. and ramsey didnt have a good game either until he scored. the back line looked good.

for me, wilshire nor cazorla should be in our starting 11. i'd put ox, walcott, ozil and rosicky all ahead of those 2.

What a shit performance. We created 1 chance from open play in 95 minutes of football against a team without a manager.
