Besiktas (H)

Scraped through and the usual fannying around instead of putting the game to bed. I've never seen a professional team so fucking awful at putting the ball in the corner when time is running out. The ref was a complete *word censored* but against better teams, we're going to struggle as nothing has changed and we are the most predictable, pedestrian team going.

To be fair to Besiktas, their fans may well be lobbing seats around but they are a hell of a lot better than some of the other shit teams that will be in the group stage.

Wonder if Monaco would be up mug enough to do a Falcao,Özil swap.

At least he bothered his a**e to help out Monreal but going forward,he was f**king useless and before anyone says it I don't give a flying f**k he had an assist. Right now the f**ker is stealing a living.
I thought he retired last season.....nice of him to come out of it for a day !

In the words of Del boy...shut up you tart. One Swallow and all that
Not really. He has been great since Gibbs went down. His cross for Giroud's goal at Everton is something I've never seen Gibbs pull off.

Great ball that the Ox should have converted for 2-0 too......but still prefer Gibbs pace and tenacity

I think/hope Monreal will improve with the more games he gets to play - so until he (maybe) turns to shyte again - fuck off Gibbs.

I'm starting to think the Ozil transfer is never going to pay off. He's clearly not a bad footballer - in fact I'd say he's clearly and extremely talented footballer. Mourinho deliberately didn't sell us a player because he was so worried about Ozil. Thing is, I am starting to become convinced that he is not suited to our team/style/league.

I'd love for him to prove me wrong. He's definitely got my support until he moves on, but it's starting to get a little frustrating seeing such a talent be completely wasted.

Our leader speaks
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger on Giroud's injury:
"Olivier Giroud had surgery today. It went well but he will be out, for maybe top competition, until end of December beginning of Januray.
On whether he will try to sign a striker: "We will look around but we want quality. We have quality, we have Walcott coming back soon, Podolski, Campbell, Sanogo. To find players better than we have would be very difficult.
"Anytime you have a problem you can't always buy. I bought Sanchez to be a striker, Walcott can be a very good striker, Sanogo is a very good striker, Campbell if you ask him what he is he says a striker. All players of quality."

I said before I don't think Monreal is that bad but seems to be a bit of a scapegoat on here.
He has made a few mistakes defensively in the past but is often left exposed at left back with little or no protection in front of him.

Scraped it in a very nervous way...I thought the work rate after the red was impressive but overall not good enough to hurt better teams. Need to spend, but will we ?

Pleased we won.

It's so obvious that we'll struggle against any half decent side but at least we can carry on the Groundhog Day situation that's been going for the last 17 years.

Sanogo is a very good striker as claimed by our beloved leader. I guess must be based on the number of competitive goals he had scored for us
