Monaco (A)
Re: Monaco (A)
What a depressing night. We showed what a terrible team Monaco are, but tonight proved how incompetent Wenger is. Welbeck was awful, he constantly lost the ball, yet came off after 70 minutes for Walcott, who(given long enough) could have been an actual threat. Sanchez has been our best player by a mile this season, but he doesn't do it in big games, and was poor tonight. Im sure the AKB'S will be seeing tonight as some glorious performance, but for me it just highlights that we are never going to be a force in Europe with Wenger in charge.

I think we all knew the comic book defending for their 3rd in the first leg was going to cost us.

Immediately after we lift the 4th place trophy and just before Wenger announces his 'virtual team of the year if only i'd signed them, award'.

Re: Monaco (A)
I will just repeat what I said after that first leg
1. Per Mertesacker should never play for Arsenal again after that first leg
2. That "performance" at home to Monaco was an absolute fucking Disgrace and I've never seen a performance more shocking, clueless, lazy and arrogant.
3. Tactically, as long as Arsene a Wenger remains manager of Arsenal, we will continue to get thrashed in a single leg of the CL.
4. Olivier Giroud isn't good enough to be first choice and never will be. The big players perform in big games. Aguero gets one chance v Barca and it's in the bank of the net. Lewandowski got 4 chances v Madrid and scored 4 goals. Suarez got 2 chances at Citeh and scored twice. Giroud got 5 clear chances v Monaco and missed them all, never finding the target.
5. The absolute lack of on-pitch leadership is shocking. When you need someone to grab a game by the scruff of the neck, who rallies the troops? Cazorla? Coquelin? Don't make me bloody laugh!

We have gone out of Europe to a second rate team because we were arrogant at home..as I type it Paul Scholes is saying it. Played well enough could have won it even..but for what. ?

I know everyone does it, but they really should change the rules regarding time for GK to distribute the ball/take a freekick/corner, unless the ref needs to get a wall back. Over twenty second is just absurd. Monaco must have purposefully wasted at least ten minutes with the ball out of of play, and only get a couple of that back at the end of 90 mins.

People slagging off ozil after tonight need to get a grip. He was one of our best players and was involved in more or less every good thing we did. It's no wonder English football has to suffer so many overrated players when a player like him is targeted for criticism.
Fucking sell him and use the money to buy James Milner

Re: Monaco (A)
dont really buy the arrogance argument. we have a second rate striker who had an off day. and we went stupidly kamikaze after conceding the 2nd goal at the emirates thanks to immature team and ineffective coaching staff. thats what cost us. "arrogance" is meaningless.Bradywasking wrote:We have gone out of Europe to a second rate team because we were arrogant at home..as I type it Paul Scholes is saying it. Sanchez gave the ball away too muchBradywasking wrote:I agree with you..Sanchez was our worst player, and i am not having a go at him...LDB wrote:People slagging off ozil after tonight need to get a grip.
