For someone who has 'been sick all week' he didn't look particularly happy or relieved when he came off, and that's the main thing i'm loving about him this season he has a real desire to play.
Also though Merts had a good game, made some important blocks and tackles in the match and didn't see him turn his back once tonight.
Finally i know Joel will never make a striker but i do feel he offers something more than either Ox or Ramsey out wide at the moment even if it is only his work rate, not sure who you replace when Sanchez is fit again, Theo or Joel as they offer very different things.

Put up a post saying exactly that (and other points), but for some reason my post appears to have vanished
Ozil put in a fucking shift defensively and was sublime going forward, truly a world class player. Giroud and Campbell worked hard defensively as well. Monreal was outstanding again, Mr Consistent.
Until Theo's goal I thought we were totally outplayed. Thought Campbell was atrocious as was Gibbs when he came on. A lucky but welcome 3 points. We were pushed off the ball so many times and lost so many 50-50s it was embarrassing. I think City lost it rather than we won it but a win is a win. Ozil was excellent, Theo played well as did the back 4.
We will be top by next week.
Ramsey has absolutely no defensive discipline. Does Wenger coach them to unnecessarily overload on the break? At times we had 5 or 6 players ahead of the ball, it was just ludicrous
The better team won, simple as that, and would you believe it Theo scored a blinder and worked his arse off defensively making some great tackles and doing his bit.
Great night, had my son come round for this after moving out a week ago and some mates came round too, celebrated later by me and the beautiful missus having an hour in the hot tub with a load of wine, I'm knackered now as the missus just wants to shag all the time now we are on our own, can't blame her really but I do have to have energy to work.
Bedtime
Merry Christmas to all you guys and girls, merry fucking Christmas
I don't know why I do it to myself but up until around the 80th minute mark I started to believe in a league title. Those last 10+ minutes and the way we navigated them gave me a reality check though. Instead of squeezing the life out of the game we were wide open and extremely naive and we nearly pissed it away.
This Gibbs for Ozil what we have we hold substitution needs to fucking stop. It weakens the shit out of us. Putting a below average left back into midfield is fucking stupid, it worked against the spuds, but will bite us in the balls if we keep at it.
I don't want to start dreaming of the league because the bastards will crush me but maybe, just fucking maybe
For years we've played these type of games had all the possession but no end product. Tonight we scored two could and should have had more and to be fair they didn't create too much. The goal they scored was a great goal from outside the box - no one to blame . 3 points and a big confidence boost coming into a busy few days.
Keep this momentum going get the cheque book out at the very start of January and who knows I might move to Finsbury Park and open a flip flop store.
He still does the old lets throw on a load of defenders take off our fastest and best counter attacking players and invite pressure on routine. It worked tonight so fair play MOTD
PS Having Cech in goal makes a huge difference to me shitting my pants every time the ball goes forward in the last 10 mins in these situations. And I suspect the defenders can feel this too and it just breeds confidence all round. The similarities to his situation and Jennings are starting to look like its gonna be another steel for us
Thanks to injuries we've finally stumbled across a well balanced team. Campbell works hard like Freddie and Parlour did that helped balance previous championship winning teams. Listened to it on 5live and we got a bit shaky without self combusting like we did last season when we shoulve won. Still a concern at how many opportunities we are allowing the opposition to create, but it sounded like a hard worked victory. Well done The Arsenal, second to only Leicester 4 points ahead of city. Some breathing space.
