Second unmitigated abomination of a performance in a row.
Complete garbage against another side short on form and missing key players.
5 points in 6 games against the other top 7 this year.
Anybody suggesting that this year might be different needs to re-consider their grasp on reality.

City were thrashed by two teams playing fast direct football in their previous two games. Any decent manager would have realised that the key to beating them was playing the same way from the start. High tempo, fast paced attacks. Instead, we do exactly what they wanted. Slow, laborious passing, no pressure, no pace. Just what you want to face when you're under pressure. That comes from the manager and he's a useless fucking *word censored*.

That second half performance from Arsenal was abysmal, among other things. Completely flat and no get up and go whatsoever.
Anybody else notice how nobody came over to separate Elneny from the ref who was well on his way to talking himself into more trouble. There is very little leadership in this team and when they are behind in games like that or are struggling to get their play going there is nobody of the Vieira mound to grab them by the scruff of their necks and get them going. This is one of the differences between a team who challenges and a team who wins titles.

...because he was playing well mate?markyp wrote:cant believe you lot are slating Ozil, you are fucking embarrassing yourselves, the whole team were awful today, you have very short memories,a couple of weeks back we were all purring at ozils performances
honestly the easiest answer is usually the right one, when players play badly they get stick, when they play well they get plaudits. it's very simple

no-one is saying the whole team weren't poor, they could easily have been but we built our team around a player who is a total passenger when things get tough. i've said it before and i've said it again (i'm sure i'll have to repeat it another 20 times until a couple of people here get it through their heads

he is not worth the money we are paying him, let alone the money we want. of course i'm going to be more patient with poorer players because they are held up to a lower standard, cost less money and aren't capable of the same things ozil is. but we know he hasn't got the right workrate, of course if he did try to win the ball, mark players and at least make an attempt to win the ball that would make him robbie savage apparently

have a look at our title winning teams of yesteryear- fuck it look at leicester last season. you don't have to look far to see an example of the sort of engine room you need to win the league, whether it's kante, vieira, makelele, keane or scholes you need your top players to have grit. i'm not going to let it go because ozi played a nice pass in the evening stroll that was the basel game, this is a long season and players will be judged by every performance.
unfortunately wenger has molly cuddled too many of our players to allow them to sit back and do nothing at all, one player in particular generates a cultish, one-eyed loyalty from our goldfish brain fanbase just the one our manager generates and when said player never accepts responsibility, shouts at other players to "fight" and never tries to win a ball and especially is shaking down the club for all we got, he is going to come under a lot of criticism.
do to copy this post and paste again when we lose to chelsea in several weeks time

Wait a minute what happened to all the talk about new found resilience in the team packed with leaders???????
Oh yes that was just talk....real teams do there talking on the pitch with performances
What a load of shite....that team has serious issues running all through it, if Preston get it right they will give Arsenal a good game
Another season, another lack of trophies, meanwhile Wenger is the only winner drawing his £8.9 MILLION...laughing all the way to his bank

And here's today's excuses:
"Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger speaking to BBC Sport: "Of course I'm disappointed and frustrated.
"We had a very good first half. We got caught cold. Today we conceded two offside goals. It's difficult to accept. I believe there's a lot going on [regarding 'bad' refereeing decisions]. It's hard going into a game like that and you get decisions go against you. They are professional and we are professional and have to stand up for our mistakes.
"The first goal gave them a lot of hope. After that we suffered for 20 to 25 minutes. On Tuesday [in the 2-1 defeat against Everton] we suffered on set-pieces. Today we were unfortunate. What can you do about the offside goals?
"We were a bit jaded physically. We played four games from five away from home." "

The excuses are all coming out now aren't they? The usual ready-made shit from a clueless has-been narcissist who will never accept any blame himself. Soon it'll be that the Christmas games are too close together, then that the cup disrupts the flow of games, then it'll be that it's unfair that we drew Bayern Munich then it'll be too many matches over Easter and the players are tired from last summer's tournaments and then that other clubs spent more money. Just fuck off *word censored* face.OneBardGooner wrote:And here's today's excuses:

FUCK!
But, we saw a Christmas miracle today... Özil managed to change himself into invisible man and was nowhere to be seen. On the serious note he was appalling today but so was whole team. I don't blame Özil one bit. He's a Grande Artista and needs players around him to actually do something, not just walking around. It is fucking stupid to expect him to turn these games around just by himself. What the fuck can he do if the whole team around him is fucking shit and especially his manager.
That's this season wrapped up lads.

I was one of the morons who thought we would win today
My prediction was more to do with Man City's inadequacies than any delusional belief our own quality but I expected us to score at least twice against their dreadful backline (which improved when Sagna came on)
It was an abysmal 2nd half performance from Arsenal though and no excuses can be made for going down so timidly for the second time in 5 days. The mentality is pathetic and the leadership non-existent.
But not to worry ... Wenger has shown he has recognised the problem so it shouldnt happen again. Yep, the reason we lost was because both goals were offside and we dropped physically
.
Things just cannot improve when the man in charge cannot (or will not) identify the real reasons
