As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
That was a brilliant result in the end We were more wide open than Kerry Katonas hippos yawn til the 2nd half subs mind..Luckily they didn't have their shooting boots on and we got a tad lucky with a couple of Rayas Lenoesque parries back into the danger zone..All in all a good day at the office though.Lets hope Saka isn't out long, though Martinelli looked good on the right when he went over there (I've never understood why our wingers don't swap sides during games) it keeps them guessing. All we can do at this stage is ask the Chavs and dippers* the question and we did that last night.
Because they've got those Satellite Tracking Devices Surgically Implanted and if they cross one another laterally on the pitch an Alarm goes Off in Arteta's Head and he Loses It Big Time!
Martinelli looks a completely different player on the right
We can argue that nowadays players need to be two footed but the reality is that very few are. I have said for ages that our tactics handicap both of our wingers because even stevie wonder can see that our wingers are trying to cut inside every single time and it is so predictable. I understand that cutting in allows our wingers to get more shots off and thus more goals, but how about sometimes we use them as creators like marwood and limpar and get them knocking in crosses like martinelli did for havertz's goal yesterday ? Taking on full back on outside gives them something they aint expecting and allows the wingers to play faster instead of checking back onto stronger foot and slowing game down.
I watched motd last night (I rarely do anymore) and even I was surprised at just how many times partey was caught out of position on their attacks - in game management has long been a weakness of the cone boy, but either him or one of his coaches or one of the players has to be able to be able to get into his ear and demand that he sits in front of the back 4 for those second balls. It simply cannot be a case where players are allowed to roam freely with no thought to team shape, but it seems to me that either the cone boy is telling them exactly that, or else they listening to his inverted full back bollox and taking it as a licence to do as they please in pursuit of this "total football" nonsense
I hope we've seen the last of Havertz as an 8.
We were wide open all game until Rice came on.
Haven't just doesn't have the defensive side to his game to track back.
Rice every time for me as an 8
should have changed it at half time, to bring Rice on....but what the fuck do i know im not on £5 million a year
Fair play to Jesus, those were two excellent and timely goals which tipped the balance in our favour. This is the level we need to get over line but unfortunately he cannot do this consistently. In a scrap for 3/4 place if we don’t buy an attacker in Jan.
