Győri ETO FC defender Máté Tóth is heading to Arsenal this month to begin a 7 day trial with the Gunners ahead of a proposed switch before the February 2nd transfer deadline.
The 17-year-old Hungarian central defender is expected to spend his 18th birthday in London as he aims to win a contract with the club.
Despite his tender age, he’s already much travelled. Starting out with Budapest outfit Kerületi TTVE, he quickly moved on to Sheffield United’s link club Ferencváros and then made a surprise switch to their arch rivals Újpest. Máté’s talents then saw him transferred to Italian side Empoli, but he failed to settle and switched back to his home land in July with Győri.
At 187cm he is an imposing prospect but also blessed with all the qualities of a modern day defender. The Hungary under 19 International is a keen AC Milan supporter, and lists Rossoneri stalwart Alessandro Nesta as his idol. Tottenham are also said to be keen to have a look at Máté, but Steve Rowley has managed to broker a deal first.

Reports in the News of the World suggest that Arsene Wenger could make a move for Boca Juniors’ hard man Sebastian Battaglia.
The 28-year-old, who is valued at £4m, plays as a holding midfielder for the reigning Recopa Sudamericana champions and could be a short-term solution to Wenger’s lack of physical pedigree at the heart of his youthful Arsenal side.
Despite Wenger’s protestations that he is focusing on bringing a creative player to the Emirates it is thought that fans would welcome Battaglia’s gritty addition following the departure of Gilberto, Matthieu Flamini and Lassana Diarra.
Argentine international, Battaglia, has already had a spell in Europe having played a season for Villareal in La Liga
Personaly, have never heard of the bloke. Sounds the part though. And if he is a holding mid, bring him in i say, we need all the help we can get!

The Gunners are keen on Ogbonna and Diakite - but they will have to offer more cash in order to land them...
Arsenal are ready to make a double swoop for Lazio defender Mobido Diakite and Torino stopper Angelo Ogbonna as they look to add some muscle to the squad.
The Gunners are looking around for players in an attempt to patch up and repair the damage left by the injury to captain Cesc Fabregas.
According to La Gazzetta Dello Sport, the north London club have made enquiries over Torino's Ogbonna. The former Cassino player has been in Turin since 2006 but spent last year on-loan with Calabrian side Crotone.
The stopper can also adapt to play in midfield and it is believed Arsene Wenger is pushing ahead for his services.
As well as this, Lazio's Diakite has also raised eyebrows at the Emirates Stadium. The Sun claims Arsenal have tabled a €5.5 million bid for the versatile defender.
However, such a figure is unlikely to arouse president Claudio Lotito. Reports suggest the English side will have to double their offer for Diakite if they are to have any chance of convincing the Italians to part company with their man.
Lazio are unlikely to sell, though. The stopper is admired by coach Delio Rossi and he has earned a regular place in his starting XI this season; any chance of a January move to Arsenal seems unlikely
Arsenal Urged To Revive Interest In Obafemi Martins
The Magpies' Nigerian star wants out and would be a "tremendous signing" for the Gunners, according to his agent...
Obafemi Martins' future at Newcastle United has been in serious doubt since the summer, and the 24-year-old striker is pondering over a possible January exit.
Martins' agent, Dapo Kujore, told the press, "If an offer came for him, of course he would consider it ... But, for now, he is a Newcastle player and he will give his best to the club as long as he is there."
The Nigerian international was strongly linked with Arsenal during the off-season, but no move eventuated as the Londoners refused to meet Newcastle's asking price.
However, the Gunners may make another inquiry now that Kujore has quite openly implored them to make an offer for his client.
"Personally, if I was Arsene Wenger, I would be making a bid for the player as soon as possible," he allegedly said.
"It is obvious that Martins isn't happy on Tyneside and I feel he would be a tremendous signing for Arsenal at the rumoured £13 million."
Whether Kujore actually made these comments is uncertain, but the point is moot anyway as Wenger is unlikely to spend such an amount on Martins while his efforts are focused on capturing Andrei Arshavin.

Can/should/will we wait to the summer?
Toure ponders summer switch
Midfielder will not leave Camp Nou in January
Barcelona star Yaya Toure will not leave Camp Nou in January but could consider his future in the summer, according to the midfielder's agent.
The Ivory Coast international has been linked with Arsenal and Manchester City over recent weeks as both sides look for strength and experience in the centre of midfield.
Toure, who joined Barcelona from Monaco in 2007, has previously admitted that he is flattered by the interest but has constantly stated that he does not want to leave the Catalan side.
His agent, Dimitri Seluk, has reiterated that Toure will not be heading for a new club in the winter transfer window but has hinted that 25-year-old could be tempted elsewhere at the end of the season.
Salary
Seluk told Radio Rac: "My player will stay at Barcelona. He won't move to another club in January.
"He loves the club and wants to stay for the foreseeable future. But he has many offers and in June the club might not refuse one of the offers."
And Seluk added when speaking to skysports.com that an increased salary could sway Toure.
"My agent is playing at the top level at the moment. He is on the same salary as when he was at Monaco," said Seluk.
"There are many clubs who are willing to pay him more, so we will see at the end of the season."

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sp ... 125883.eceANDREI ARSHAVIN has repeated his desire to join Arsenal after admitting he would relish the chance to play at the Emirates Stadium.
The Zenit St Petersburg playmaker is Arsene Wenger’s No1 target in the January transfer window and the Gunners have already had a 10million bid turned down.
But Arshavin is desperate for the North Londoners to make a renewed offer, claiming he would fit seamlessly into their style of play.
He said: "In some games last season, Zenit played football which was very similar to that of Arsenal."
And Arshavin even revealed what shirt number he would prefer to wear should he join Wenger's team.
He added: I would prefer my present No10 but in the team where I hope to move it's not vacant.
"So I'm ready for any number they are going to offer me."
Manchester City's hopes of signing Kaka have been dashed after Arsenal sent a delegation to Milan to steal the deal.
It's thought that Arsenal have offered to swap Niklas Bendtner, £2m in performance related payments, and a genuine Arsenal hoodie from The Armoury. The salary offered is believed to be in the region of £30,000 annually, and Kaka has apparently been promised the coveted number 13 jersey worn by legends such as Stuart Taylor.
Mark Hughes is said to be fuming at the news and reportedly wants to "duff up" Arsene Wenger.

He's taking the piss. We got heartily sick of the "he could do a job for us" comment a few months ago, so it is now said ironically.

Do you really think Villa are going to sell Ashley Young??
Stephen Ireland is a good player, but a general prick so no.
I don't actually get the Bullard negativity here, the guy is tireless and is actually a comitted player. People should also think back to the fact that just ebcause he playes for a lower club does not mean he couldn't step up. Look at players like Dixon and Bould. I'm not saying we should sign him but I wouldn't say that it would signal a decline

Zenit St Petersburg are demanding a huge fee for their wantaway Russian playmaker.
The Gunners have already seen one offer of £10million knocked back but are ready to return with an improved deal.
That is not likely to be anywhere near the £20m figure touted by the Russians.
Arshavin's future is likely to be away from Russia with Manchester City and Inter Milan also interested.
He recently pulled out of Zenit's pre-season tour to the United Arab Emirates in a bid to finally resolve his future.
Arshavin's agent Dennis Lachter said: "It looks like nothing will happen this week now but there may be some movement early next week."
Same here, I would be quite happy to get him.rigsby wrote:

May not be the most gifted player in the world but nor was Ray Parlour.
I think Bullard would be a decent addition.
