RIP Thread

It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.

Just heard about this mate...as you say (Fucking) Cancer (again)...

First saw him when he joined The Tygers of Pang Tang during the NWOBHM... yeah! I knowww,,, But it was because of him that they did their best album 'The Cage', ...

Went to see Whitsnake in Birmingham NEC in the 80's really good... Big Hair Band but they could Play

Went to see Lizzy back in their Hey Day in the late 70's .... remember buying the Dble Album (vinyl) Lizzy Live ... Always a Good Night Out!

I can still remember one of Phil Lynott's jokes...

"Are there any ladies here tonight with some Irish in them!? .... Loadsa Young ladies down the front screaming (yes!) to which he replied would you like some more Irish in you after the show!?"

RIP Mr Sykes. :?

We are sadly so near the end of that Great Generation, a generation that knew what it meant to serve. These were such brave, humble people, the complete opposite of so many modern "celebidee" types that put their own comfort fortune and fame above all else.

And he was a fellow Dubliner. 8)

RIP Paddy.

Thing is about 95% of the Young Men & Women (Boys & Girls really) Who Stepped Up To The Plate and Put Their Lives on the Line that is Truly Courageous. Something tells me that if a War broke out now most Teens would shit their pants and go into hiding. They were of a different Calibre and Breed Back Then.

Clem Burke, drummer with Blondie. The best drummer from the New Wave & Punk era. And probably one of the best drummers, period.

Following on from the passing of Rick Buckler of The Jam no more than a couple of months ago.

Two bands that shaped my teenage years and preferred musical tastes

RIP both, gone to the great sound stage in the sky

I remember a mate had loaned me a vhs of The Pogues live, I gave it back not realising I'd taped 3 episodes of Cheers over it, he went mental

Sid, you're that mate everyone hates!

I had a mate like you. Loaned him a cassette tape of Dio live at Donnington in 83 that I had taped off the BBC Friday Rock Show (they only ever played that tape once). It was one of the greatest live performances ever. Legendary gig. I treasured it as a young metal head. I loaned it to my mate who handed it back a few weeks later with some fucking David Bowie album recorded on it and Dio live gone! Now, I like Bowie, don't get me wrong, but it was Dio live at Donnington!!!
