McDowell its over dude...no more - Hallelujah

Theo in demand: Chelsea and PSG to test Arsenal's resolve over Walcott

Chelsea are ready to make an official bid for Walcott, after carefully monitoring his situation, while former Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti is also keen to take the 23-year-old to Paris

I hope they do make offers - £20 mill would be the going rate....as long as the money is re-invested in buying a decent mid-field winger who has pace, can look up AND run with the ball and CAN beat an opponent AND actually successfully cross the ball.

You are so passe   PAGE 161 LAST POST ON THAT PAGE

So what you're saying is we're not allowed to voice our own opinion on things that we read, and once you have passed both comment and judgement on it, it is closed for others to become involved is it!?

I take it you have heard of Freedom of Expression ?

I hope this comment is 'allowed' by McDowell42, I mean I know it's HIS thread and all that.

I am torn about Theo, agree 100% that he can be so frustrating - he probably has the best Zero to Full Throttle accelaration in the Prem - and can use it to leave players for dust, but he still has a tendency to not think and play (what many others see as) the simple ball/pass, he often seems to lack the confidence to use that pace and his skills (yes he does have them) to beat players, and of course his final ball is not what it could be, but he is a work in progress.

He has shown on more than a few occasions that: He can score very good goals, he has great assist ability and so can be an important player in attack and by his mere presence (ability to break away) can make the opposition nervous.

He is still 22yrs old - which IS young - all players develop at different times at their own pace (players like Fabregas and Wilshere are the exception - which is why they are lauded), also at the moment he does have time on his side, but for me if he doesn't "make the leap" to acting as and playing as one of the teams senior players this season, then perhaps it really is time to go.

I think the frustrating thing is that we shouldn't be a finishing school (intended   ) for these players. 12 million for what is, after 6 years, a still incredibly frustrating player. Actuall, it's probably the price tag that is part of the problem. No-one minds a young player coming through the system, and if it doesn't work out then well, that's the way it is. But this guy came at a high cost, and if he's a prominent part of the squad (which he has been for a few years now), then the expectation rises accordingly.

I honestly believe that, that *word censored* Sven Goran Eriksson did a lot of damage by actually taking him to the World Cup (much to most peoples consternation - except wenker and the board - they thought it was great publicity) and then not playing him at all...it pushed him into the limelight - and as anyone with an iota of common sense can tell he's quite a shy lad.

I can only guess at the kind of pressure these young players face. Yes, they earn Mega, MEGA wages - more than I will in my life-time (unless I won the lotto - fingers crossed  -0 but they still have to contend with - not only being called all kinds of stuff from opposing fans etc - their lives put under a microscope etc - but sometimes their own disgruntled over expectant fans calling them all sorts....and for me SGE was a major contributor to that aspect of Walcott's (now) life. :rubchin:

Baines would without doubt be a huge upgrade on both of our left backs but I still think that the defensive midfield position should take priority over everything else in the club. Stupid as it sounds I would also have concerns about baines attachment to the area he lives in - didnt he have problems with homesickness prior to the 2010 world which led to his omission from the final squad ? I know that to you and me liverpool to london isnt a huge journey but to someone like baines it could well be esp with the mancs offering him a transfer where he probably wouldnt even need to move house

That is who we should have bought last season, instead of Santos, who wasn't fit and had no premiership experience.

A solid, reliable, experienced player who puts in a shift, wouldn't expect stupid wages and would enhance the team.

Was just about to put this. If true, very encouraging.
