The very fact they know they need to time the announcement to avoid backlash is damming. In other words, they know how unpopular Wenger is, yet they back him anyway. Whilst Wenger himself deep down knows he isnt supported, yet stays on anyway.Dan_85 wrote:Quite a few people saying he's actually already signed it and they're just waiting for the best time to announce it - probably during the Euros.Wilson wrote:The little c-unt will sign the deal behind closed doors, and the club will announce it on twitter at 1 am in the morning.
Ive always said, if Wenger wants to sign a new deal, he shoudl be forced to walk into the middle of the pitch and sign it in front of the fans.

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
the things is we have all known about this contract extension for a few weeks now - Piers Morgan pretty much revealed as much fairly recently.
the "protest" v Norwich City has also backfired badly. The fact that you had the majority of the Emirates singing "theres only one Arsene Wenger" will have convinced him to sign a new contract.
Interesting article by Henry Winter in the Times though saying that the club would be mad to offer him a new contract.
And this is where for me I get a bit confused. Could you now argue that Kroenke is the bigger problem at the club for offering him a new contract?
Lets face it with the lack of ambition that he shows, long term it doesnt really matter who is in charge - we will never ever compete at a higher level with this little ambition at the club

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
I've got some idea now how people living under dictatorships must feel.
Watching something you love and rely on being run by an arrogant, egotistical, lying git for their own selfish agenda. And it's made worse by watching that person raking in millions whilst rewarding a select group of nobodies for their loyalty. And it's made even worse by watching peaceful protests being crushed. And it's made even worse still by the realisation that there is little you can do to change things.
It kind of makes me wish that I was a selfish uncaring bastard like Kim Jong Wanker because I'd be living in a far bigger house than the one I've got now.

Kroenke can be blamed for offering a new contract, but also Wenger is to blame for showing zero ambition to win the bigger prizes.Gunner Rob wrote:the things is we have all known about this contract extension for a few weeks now - Piers Morgan pretty much revealed as much fairly recently.

Kim Jong Wanker does have an enormous ambition to win the big prizes. It's what he lives for because winning the big prizes years ago is what has made him Le Prof or Le Boss in the eyes of so many.
Lack of ambition isnt Kim Jong Wanker's problem - his problems are
Arrogance
Egotism
Delusion
Listening to nobody
Belittling any critics
Being massively out of touch
Holding too much power
Not being as good as he thinks he is

Any manager with massive ambition to win prizes, doesn't continually spout dogshite about a top 4 finish being a trophy

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
If he signs, that's it from me.
Seriously can't be bothered with the club that I once loved......Leaving Highbury was gut wrenching but I thought (as we all did) it was onto bigger and better things.
Fuck Le Wankhole, fuck the board, fuck the Tarquin AKBS and fuck the pile of shite football that gets lauded as attractive to watch!

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
Just seen his interview on Ssn and he rubbished the rumour of a two year extension and told the reporter had they contacted himself or the club then they would confirm this thus avoiding putting out a false statement, or something along those lines

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
Yep I was just gonna post that. Not sure if its available online, I read it waiting in the barbers. Worth a read though.Eboue-Why? wrote:

He also mentions how Koeman would be an ideal replacement but if he goes to Everton then there's another of the 'who can we replace him with' brigade lost.

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
Augie - I'd agree with that if it wasn't for all the other non sensical shite that Kim Jong Wanker comes out with. He is deluded and inoculated totally against the outside world. How many real fans do you think he talks to? How many of us mere peasants invade his privileged world??
I think the Top 4 is success bullshit stems more from him thinking that he's never wrong. He wants desperately to win the Premier and Champions League - when he comes up short time and time again it can't possibly be his fault so he falls back on the only thing he can which is consistency.
Ferguson would've hated finishing 3rd or 4th every year but he was made of stronger stuff than Wanker so he adapted and changed. Wanker can't do that as he would have to admit he was wrong.

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
I think he was always going to be offered a new contract....the question is if he signs. The only way he won't sign is if he feels it's not worth it anymore. Unfortunately I don't think the protests are getting through to him.....I shall be at the villa game, I wouldn't normally stay for the lap of shame but I will on Sunday to let my feelings known as much as possible. If he does extend I think that'll be the end of it for me as well. What a lovely way to finish 35 yrs of supporting MY club....shouting abuse at the manager.

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
He has just come out and said its false, and any extension will only be discussed AFTER next season.
Best thing for all in my opinion. He should only contemplate staying beyond next year if he wins the PL or CL - anything less and its goodbye. Hopefully this is his train of thought.
I think the protests have worked. I think he knows a growing majority now view him as unwelcome, and he isnt prepared to get cozy.
