THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Wenger has not got long left. If this season has proven anything it's most fans expect and deserve a title chasing team. He will sign 2 or 3 players but I see the others teams going mental in the transfer market. I would be more optimistic if Gabriel had turned out to be a world class defender but he is far from it. I hope Walcott gets sold and we get a Striker who is in the mould of Smith, Wright and Henry but I doubt we will.
Still we finished above Spurs and regardless of anything else life is about now not next season so will enjoy that :barscarf:

And, don't forget, we still did our bit against Leicester. That must get us a trophy :winner:

Are there really only two pre-season friendlies this summer? :?
GoonerMuzz wrote:That statement is so true, we are so used to AW's Arsenal that every season is the same and we can accurrately predict exactly what will happen, and after 10 years it is boring, i'd actually enjoy us having a really shit start to the season, just for the change of pace, maybe even as bad as Chavskis, just so i could enjoy the matches again, not sure what that says about me as an Arsenal fan though :rubchin:
What about the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons? Complete with shameful VT celebrations. Excitement and Arsenal haven't belonged in the same sentence for almost a decade. Just the same old sideways, underachieving shite. So predictable.

I don't like seeing us struggle down the table, but it may be a necessary evil - If it makes any difference. I just hope the protests against TOF continue regardless.

Wenger will stay and sign a new contract.....thats a certainty......I think the fans deserve it

Finishing above that shit from Middlesex is that the limit of our ambition????????

Don't give a flying fuck about them

Well another season fades away into the sunset - another groundhog season of being top then crumbling to shyte in the new year....then out of the Cl...and then the FA Cup and the usual excuses by the sneering fool in the grey suit who gets richer by the hour....The protests did enough to 'rattle' him which is why him & Gazidiscum sent the Nazi stewards to man city - Even to the point where they and the localplodcunts assaulted long standing peaceful protesting Gooners - Have they ever sent stewards to away games before ?

So although the steps seem small and achingly slow the changes we need WILL come.

Nothing lasts forever not Wenger, Gazidis or Kroenkunt - yes meanwhile the club we all love and support goes down the pan...But, it will come back to us..Keep the Faith, keep protesting - Do not buy any merchandise and where possible object every day of every week to the fact that our club is being run by a delusional dictator.

C.O.Y. Gooners! :barscarf:

Wenger had all his lines prepared after the match, made sure he came out with us being unbeaten for 9 games.
Sounds like Champions form, until you realise in that 9 games we played 7 of the bottom 10 teams in the league.

Typical of Giroud to score a hat-trick. Bottom played team already relegated, in a dead rubber match.

No doubt Wenger will use this as evidence how he was 'right' on Giroud, whilst the critics were wrong.

He reckons other clubs would have been delighted to finish second.

the only progress made has been the finishing positions, you can't argue with that.
However the big thing for me is that ONCE AGAIN we have not competed for the title in the crucial last 2 months of the season.

TWELVE consecutive seasons like that now - unacceptable.

meanwhile a large part of our fanbase will see yesterday as justification for keeping Wenger :x
just take a look at these comments from some deluded :censored: on "Untold Arsenal"

"a big finger to all that discounted Arsenal and Wenger during this season. It's decisive moments like this that make the difference between winners and losers. our squad has strength and character, had their ups and downs, but never gave up fighting. This is the stuff champions are made of" :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

They clearly haven't watched the last two months (and arguably longer) where the players have just been going through the motions.

I have this horrible feeling that despite yesterday being fantastic and being able to finish above Spurs, in the long run it could be a disaster. There must now be a chance Wenger will sign a new contract, and it also will reinforce his belief in the squad and not add much in the summer. Yesterday may well be as good as it gets for the forseeable future.

He's an astute man and with this new TV money coming in you can be sure he will not only sign a new contract but that contract will be for at least 10 million a year, especially as pep is coming to the league on a reported 18 million.

Could be even more

Yesterday was the football equivelent of a serial philandering husband promising to be faithful from now on, and giving us a huge bouquet of flowers and a box of expensive chocolates.
And like a cheated on spouse who should know better and be rid of him, we just flutter our eyelashes, pretend we still trust him and act eternally grateful.
