But he said he was here for the lovely weather and the cream teas
So let me get this right... you're saying that if Van Persie leaves Arsenal (who haven't won a trophy for 7 years) and joins Citeh (i.e. the CHAMPIONS OF ENGLAND) it would be proof that he was leaving for money and not to increase his chances of winning trophies?rigsby wrote:To all those who claimed he wasn't going for money, when he walks out in a City shirt next year I think you'll know that ALL modern footballers are motivated by it.
If he does head to city after all that talk about loving arsenal then he truly is a ****g88ner wrote:So let me get this right... you're saying that if Van Persie leaves Arsenal (who haven't won a trophy for 7 years) and joins Citeh (i.e. the CHAMPIONS OF ENGLAND) it would be proof that he was leaving for money and not to increase his chances of winning trophies?rigsby wrote:To all those who claimed he wasn't going for money, when he walks out in a City shirt next year I think you'll know that ALL modern footballers are motivated by it.
Honestly, I don't get your logic. Surely if it was just about the money, he'd join PSG, Anzi or follow Drogba to China? - leaving trophy-barren Arsenal to join a successful and ambitious outfit like citeh doesn't prove anything... unless you're conclusion is clouded by your dislike for Citeh?![]()

In Van Persie's case I see it as the club that has been loyal to the player by sticking with him even though he never finished a full season. Now it's time for the player to show his loyalty. Why I city is because that's all links are to, of course it's the same if he went to any other club in England.augie wrote:Can we just clarify something here........there are players out there (and rvp is one such player) who have given commitment to a club for a few years but who are nowhere near winning any medals with them and because of this they decide to leave - if this player goes to a club that have just won the league but are only in the top 6 wage payers in the league then that is ok, but if he goes to a team that has just won the league but are also the best payers then he is a mercenary c**t ? How the fcuk does that make sense ? If rvp goes to manure rather than citeeh will that make him less of a c**t ?![]()
For me this is not a black and white issue - cashley for example left a team that was winning trophies to join a club that had won nothing but was flush with cash therefore than made him a mercenary in my eyes. Cesc gave us several years of absolute 100% commitment to the point that he was often asked to carry the team on his back and he did so without complaining but seeing that trophies were not on the horizon anytime soon he moved back to the greatest club side in history which does not make him mercenary imo. I would very much put the lesbo in the same grouping as cashly - he put in fcuk all performances over 3 years and showed no commitment and courage when needed and then he had the cheek to moan about not winning medals with us ? Petite PuteHowever for me rvp is in the same situation as cesc - he wants to win medals and at 29 years of age he knows that time is running out for him. He realises that he is playing with a club whose target is to finish top 4 every season and that lack of ambition will not deliver medals anytime soon
Players do not give a flying fcuk about FFP and why should they so he hasnt got the time and inclination to waste the last few years of his career for a club that continually sell out the dreams and aspirations of fans and players every single fcuking year

Yes I agree with your point about Leaving to win trophies. What I'm saying is why come out and say I love the football club and I'm a gunner for life only to join a so called rival and play against us the following season.g88ner wrote:You make it sound so simple.IW8Goalmachine wrote: If he does head to city after all that talk about loving arsenal then he truly is a ****
What if Citeh are the only top team to agree a fee with Arsenal? - if that happens, then his choice is either...
Option A - stick with trophy-barren Arsenal and abandon all hope of winning silverware, or
Option B - sign for Premier League champions Citeh and have a good chance of adding a league title or CL medal to end his 7 year trophy drought at Arsenal.
Yeah, only a *word censored* would opt for option B. Or a sane person, perhaps?
Players get a short career and I can totally understand why they'd want to fulfil their ambitions and be successful. It's human nature to want to achieve and be the best.
Lets just hope he either lacks ambition and stays, or some big foreign clubs come in for him and then the dreaded citeh option isn't his only one.
I suppose option C could be stay and leave on a free next summer, but I'm not sure that's realistic as it would overshadow our season and create an unhealthy atmosphere around the club.
