I wasn't at the last game but id imagine the joy and elation of spuds getting thumped 5-1 at relegated Newcastle, finishing above them again, led to the celebratory and the ovation of wenger.Gunner Rob wrote:Wilson wrote:Agreed. I can see Wenger being crowded out next season. All the other clubs would look at their manager as an asset. Whilst are the only top club with a manager the fans do not want, and whose ability to succeed is under genuine question.Robin_L wrote:From a BBC article today, quite funny I thought:-
"Jose Mourinho's seemingly imminent arrival at Manchester United cements the Premier League's status as the home of the superstar managers.
United, Chelsea and Manchester City all look likely to start next season under new management in the shape of Mourinho, Antonio Conte at Stamford Bridge and Pep Guardiola at The Etihad.
Jurgen Klopp is a relatively new arrival at Liverpool after joining in October as the cream of the coaching crop - as well as Arsene Wenger and Mauricio Pochettino in situ at Arsenal and Tottenham respectively - prepare to battle it out next season."
-----------
Wenger now well and truly pushed aside from the top table of managers in the league heading into his final season at the club.
The irony is, no pundit actually believes Wenger will compete in this field, yet at the same time they scoff at the idea of getting rid of him.
whether you like it or not the majority of "fans" at the Emirates have clearly shown they are behind Wenger as manager with the singing of TO1AW at the Norwich City game and then Wenger being given a huge standing ovation on his lap of honour after the Villa game.
with support like that the media will back off a bit. the fans at the Emirates are the problem I am afraid.

wenger still be touted in that company because he is a big name and has a good record for finishing in the top four.
out of all those managers though, he has underachieved for at least 8 of the last 10 seasons and has absolutely no pressure on his shoulders to achieve anything

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
He should have left after the cup final win. He is staying in the hope he will get a dream send off. But I think this year will be disastrous, the competition will eat him alive. Not just the likes of Klopp, Conte, Pep, Guardiola, Pochettino, but the likes of Koeman, Bilic, Ranieiri are savvy managers with more tactical acumen than Wenger. And if/when Wenger proves to drown in this new era of competition, no more cliche's like 'he has the right to try and turn it around' or 'he is the man for the rebuilding process'.
I swear to god too many confuse Arsene and Arsenal, and many seem to think the former is whats most important. They talk about Wengers position at the club as if its whats most important. 'You cant sack Wenger after all he has done', 'he has earned the right to leave when he wants'. It literally is the case, that many, albeit without knowing it, relegate the club behind whats best for Wenger. In their minds, sacking Wenger is an undignified send off that cannot happen under any circumstance. Yet he cant not be sacked if he is not capable of competing.
Another thing, each passing year Wenger's record looks more and more average. 3 titles in 20 years is not great. In fact, over the next 20 years, we should be aiming to beat that, and if we dont, we would have failed.

Arsenal have been crowned "Top earners from the Premier league Champions" Throw in the fact that Arsenal are the first club to top £100m in earnings from the Premier league adds to the achievement.
Remember in 2004 there was talk of the football side of the business going unbeaten for a season, surely this is a bigger accolade... I suppose some ungrateful customers will moan but as long as they pay their money who cares about their opinion.

Yet we are told not to dare to expect to win the league. We have 'no right to win the league'. Even though the club made the most from PL prize money, and no doubt topped the match day revenue streams.Bradywasking wrote:Arsenal have been crowned "Top earners from the Premier league Champions" Throw in the fact that Arsenal are the first club to top £100m in earnings from the Premier league adds to the achievement.

The fans put more money into Arsenal, then fans of other clubs put into their club, yet whilst City, Chelsea and United fans are allowed to demand high standards (three sub par seasons - three sacked managers). We on the other hand are told we have never had it so good, and must sit the F down and support Wenger no matter what.

Just thank fuck it ain't gonna be Ramsey. His self-absorbed ego would expand so fast and so far that he would go into backheel/flick overdrive and a rip would appear in the fabric of the universe.mcdowell42 wrote:Now that Arteta has gone, looks like Koscielny is going to be the new club Captain
