As said, the narrative seems to be in place for the extension.

Then again there's the Vardy signing. Could it be another Gazidis signing?

Weren't Ozil and Welbeck Gazidis signings?
Gazidis as the new manager
Could he be any worse?
Does Wenger shit in the woods. :? :rubchin:

'If either of us didn’t believe that we would not be constrained by nostalgia or longing; we would have to make a change. Arsene would understand and support that. But it’s just not how either side feels. We feel we are on a good path.'

Gazidis has admitted the club are starting to think about the club's long-term future due to Wenger's age as a succession plan needs to be in place.

He added: 'The reality is we wouldn’t leave things until the last minute. I’m comfortable both that if Arsene is going to extend we will know that and if, whenever that is, he is going to come to an end, that he will give us the time that we need to prepare for that transition.

If I was sitting there I would have said WHEN?? What do you mean..... WHEN, I want to know WHEN he will deliver success... next season, the one after, 5 years time, 10 years......WHEN????

Why are these pricks allowed these fucking cosy little back slapping, love ins with nobody asking the hard questions. I'm so sick of it.

Gazidis actually also said that Wengers future is in his own hands... so basically he'll never be fired. Gazidis' idea of success is how much money Wenger makes them, when he talks of success he's talking of financials.
Money is the only thing Arsenal thinks about now, that's why top four is a must and seen as success. He must have thick skin and big balls to carry on with the amount of unrest it's creating.[/quote

Understand what your saying totally but what unrest has it caused? Wenger isn't in the away end with us watching the shit that happens after every game. The only thing he would notice is a full scale home demo and we all know how that went. Onwards and upwards to next season blindly following.

If Wenger signed Vardy, he will claw some respect back, as he is showing some ambition to win. However, I still think his abilities as a manager are inherently flawed, and he wont win regardless of who he brings in.

It also really poor that it took such criticism for him to actually act, and behave like he gives a F. When we sold Fabregas and Nasri, and made 60m, and waited for United to smack us 8-2 before deciding to enter the transfer market, it showcased how he was above being judged and evaluated, that he thought he could act negligently and get away with it. It was the same a few years later - we had to get smacked by Aston Villa for him to act and sign Ozil. He is like an employee who has to be scolded into doing his job. You cant trust him to work autonomously because he slacks off if you dont pressure him.

The 'Wenger out' campaign may have failed to oust him. However, it has sent a clear message he can no longer run Arsenal like a pet-project. He wouldnt dare start Yaya Sanogo against Bayern Munich ever again. Just as he wouldnt dare not invest in the team to give Arsenal its utmost chance to win. Its taken 10 years, but Wenger has finally had some pressure put on him.

Makes you wonder though, 10 years of allowing an egomaniac to drift year to year, experimenting and doing things 'his way'. Without even challenging him and saying, maybe you could be doing more to improve Arsenal.

This is why his legacy for me, will always be tainted. In my mind, he literally did subject Arsenal, and its fans to years of unavoidable misery, just to fulfill his own personal ambition of wanting to win 'his way'.

Wonga built the club in the first 10 years and took it straight back down for the next 10. Yes we're at a higher level than '96 but only just. We're still no closer to being a real force in European football. I'll believe the Vardy signing when (if) it happens, it would be so out of character for Wonga (ie: no resale value) that I just find it hard to believe it will happen!!

"Arsenal’s interest in Aubameyang is said to have cooled, with the Gunners set to add Jamie Vardy to their ranks this week."

That is from this mornings Mirror.

What you plebs need to realise as well, is that although Vardy has been an absolute revelation to everybody this past season, Wenger has known about him for at least a decade and has been monitoring him carefully waiting to pounce. NOW is that time. AKB :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf:

Giroud has been given a reality check. Would love to have seen his face the moment he knew Vardy is likely to sign.

I know that we have heard him saying it a load of times before, but the quote from gazidas at the Q & A the other night really pisses me off every single time I hear it - "I can tell you the most challenging person of Arsene is Arsene".............excuse me for a minute Ivan but does that read right to you ? Isnt it the job of you and the board to be the most challenging people of all club employee's ? I don't read one bit in his responses that suggests he has any say when it comes to wenger, and if he thinks that the above quote is a positive and reassuring one for the fans, then he is deeply deluded

Ollie has probably been reassured by Wenger that Vardy is being brought in, not as a replacement, but as his understudy. He will perfect his craft at the feet of Giroud the Master. Watch & learn son.....
