Money, simple as that. Do you think they put success/trophies before profits?? They would like to have both I guess but if they had to choose, money would come first. And Wenger is the perfect guy, because at a club the size of ours, the club is punching below it's weight, but does enough to turn huge profits. He is NOT a football manager, more a business manager.Wilson wrote:Wenger did say he would not sign a new deal until AFTER next year, that way he can he judged based on his performance this year. For him to be rewarded with a contract extension after this season would have been a scandal. I dont know why the board are so scared of change. They are such small thinkers, none of them are bold and brave. They appear petrified of life after Wenger, for no other reason than things will be different, and they might be pushed out of their comfort zone.
The board, Ivan and Gazidis are happy to go through the motions for as long as possible.

A better business man would realise that by winning trophies on a consistent basis would allow the club to make even more money.

Why the fucking hell is the *word censored* allowed to keep doing it? Someone at the club should tell him that his priority is the club and that his performances over the last 20 or so transfer windows have meant that he needs to focus primarily on the team, not fuck about working on tv channels. Why are they so fucking scared of standing up to him? The old *word censored* just does whatever he wants, whenever he wants.

He keeps on getting away with it thanks to the fact the majority of our fanbase are still behind him
Think back to last season and the abuse the banner boys got..its because of these exit holes that hes still here.

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
He gets away with it because he is solely responsible for all footballing matters which includes transfers. Wages, fees, everything is deferred to Wenger.
So if he's off on junkets doing TV, work or having extra marital affairs, theres no-one, absolutely no-one to keep their eye on the ball and concentrate fully on the clubs transfers. Everything has to wait for Wenger. And while he dithers and fucks about nothing gets done. Nothing.
It really is that simple. But so ridiculous its unreal.

I think you are absolutely correct. Like any ego-maniac dictator, he has carefully, over a number of years, manipulated the positions and people around him so that he has complete, overall control.armchair wrote:He gets away with it because he is solely responsible for all footballing matters which includes transfers. Arsenal are closing in on the signing of Japanese Takuma Asano after agreeing a deal with Sanfrecce Hiroshima to bring the 21-year-old to north London.
Sportsmail revealed on Friday that Arsenal were set to land Asano with Arsene Wenger viewing the striker as one for the future.
A number of clubs were interested in Asano but the Gunners have beaten off stiff competition to agree terms with his current side.
"Beat off stiff competition" (from who??).... but the telling phrase "one for the future." So, a year riding the pine with a few unimpressive end of match cameos. Sent out on loan... remains out on loan... eventually brought back, quickly becomes apparent he is not as good as Walcott or Giroud, and now we are stuck with him because he is not worth the wages he started on...... he joins Sanogo, wherever he is...

I genuinely think that he may be the only one who knows how to work the fax machine, ( I'm pretty sure that's how The Arsenal still conduct their transfer business) so nothing can get done till he returns from his month long jolly up.Perryashburtongroves wrote:I think you are absolutely correct.
