£7m is a lot of money for us now. Given that in wide attacking positions we have Arshavin, Walcott, Gervinho (that's where he seems to be in pre-season), Miyachi (who we hear so much about).......where are we going to accomodate this kid when he joins ?

The Sunday Mirror is reporting this morning that Arsenal are very close to announcing their third signing of the summer, with a move for Southampton’s 18 year old Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

In a move that will cost the Gunners around £7 million initially which could rise dependent on the number of first team appearances Oxlade-Chamberlain makes for Arsenal.

Whilst not the all inspiring marquee name signing that Arsenal fans are expecting and more importantly want, Oxlade-Chamberlain looks like he could well become a star of the future.
:banghead:   :x
Wenger just dont get it does he?

I will bow to your greater knowledge as I must admit to not knowing that much about him - so I hope you are right. My post actually was referring to Oxlade-What's His Name but I replied to the wrong quote. Nevertheless I really think neither of these two are what this Club needs now. We need grownups that have been through it, won things and can be leaders on the pitch - I am afraid Rodwell and Oxlade tick none of these boxes for me.

Nasri - £21M.
Bendtner - £8M.
Vela - £1M.
Eboue - £3M.
Arshavin - £7M.
*Clichy - £7M.
*Jay Emmanuel-Thomas - £1M.

Total: £89M.

Buy:

Cahill - £15M.

Oxlade - Chamberlain - £9M.
Benzema - £25M.

Spot on with the 'sell' list - although I would add Walcott to that too.

ARSENAL IN GENERAL

Post by fieldyj »

I have now watched and read the threads, post and quotes with a lot of heart fealt pashion. I had a Deb and Season Ticket and lost the plot as soon as DD went. Wenger is a bloody goody guy but is now anitiquatated. The purchase of Vieira, Petite etc... etc... was good at at the time but he can't and won't do it again - dooooomed we are chaps.

RVP is the main man, we can't even cash in on him if need be - becasue his medical print out would reveal a black hole that even Nick Leason could not justify.

Please Arsene buy 2 x Centre Backs, 1 x Huge Midfielder and a enough cotton wool for RVP.

What are the odds of Wenger using the riots as an excuse not to buy in the transfer window?

Interesting that Dein feels it necessary to come out and 'big up' Wenger now. He knows that Arsole is in big trouble and is desperately trying to protect him. Good news if Arsole is feeling the pressure!
