Obviously not the striker that is going to instantly propel us to the title but I'm a fan of Wilfried Bony and if we're going to persist with Giroud next season then we could do worse then Bony as competition/back-up. Certainly an upgrade on Sanogo.

Been saying the same - he was really impressive at our place too. Certainly better than fair weather Remy who has been touted on here before. Bony is much better in the air, just as quick and strong as an ox - not the Suarez signing we craved but at least someone who can play as a lone striker and actually has a bit of fucking pace

If they don't get a decent manager in the summer they will go back to being Real's feeder club and he'll join Modric,Bale et al.
Doubt it. He wouldn't get ahead of Isco.

Arsenal will make a shock £13m move for Manchester United defender Chris Smalling, 24, this summer.

Chris Smalling Smalling joined Manchester United in 2010

Full story: Daily Star

I can only hope the Star's "writers" have grown even more bored than usual - he's probably the only player in the league with a worse first touch than Sanogo !

Paper talk horsehsit I hope SteveO. If memory serves Smalling turned us down to move to Utd. We dodged a depleted uranium hollow point bullet there. Grindingly average.

The more I see of Seamus Coleman the more impressed I am. I would be as happy as a pig in shit if we tried for him this summer. Super Quality.

Yeah I rate him. Right pain in the arse for defenders.

Bring Reus on the left wing and Poldi in the middle. That's all we need there. We'll never get Cavani, Falcao or Suarez. Mandzukic is the best we can hope for now with Lew coming to Bayern.
And while rumours about Fabregas leaving Barca getting stronger with every day, who wouldn't like him as a replacement for Arteta?

so:
Reus
Cesc
Casillas (ter Stegen would "kill" Scez)
RB

Manager: Jurgen Klopp

Podolski takes chances when he gets them (unlike Giroud). Surrounded with Reus and Walcott on wings and Özil/Cesc/Cazorla/Wilshere (well everyone bar Arteta,Flam,Kim) in behind to provide them, I believe this could work.... but what do I know, I haven't worked in football for 30 years.

I want to agree with you but every time Podolski has played up front of his own he has been truly abysmal. Wholeheartedly believe that in a different system he could be an effective player and showcase his predatory abilities. But not as a lone striker. And even if we did start playing 2 up front we'd still need to sign a better striker to bolster us.

I think we should offer 40.000.002 for Suarez this summer. 8)
