THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

See a quote from Wenger today saying that there are no better strikers in Euro 16 than Giroud..
Guess that means the business for Summer 16 is done..

Seen that w*nker in arseblog defending the signing of the Japanese guy - no great shock there I know, but he did so on the basis that we will be bringing another quality striker and he also slated the notion that it wasn't a marketing signing and it wouldn't make financial sense to buy an Asian player for that intention  If the joke is that players like wally must have some dirt on wenger for him to keep wally in the club on mega money, then by f.uck wenger must have some serious compromising photo's of arseblog (and john cross) for them to continually crawl up his anus      :censored: :censored:

The more pathetic thing Augie, is the amount of fans who think Giroud is world class because he scored against Romania and Iceland. Those same fans will have nothing to say, when the arrogant wanker goes missing for half a season.

Seriously, is there anyone that thinks Giroud is "world class"? This gets thrown out there quite often on here but I've yet to encounter any Gooner that thinks, or at least has stated, that Giroud is world class.

It was only a matter of time before he trotted this out.
Tbf....the performances of the strikers at the euros has been piss poor.

True, and Giroud has been his usual self - a mix of inept shitness and moments of quality without consistency. I can't see what has really changed for him tbh... :|

I'm confused. When those Wenger supporters were grabbing our banners and assaulting us they were shouting........

"Its the players fault, not Wenger. Blame the players."

Now Arsenal players are performing quite well at the Euros and they say ...

"Gotta give Wenger credit. We're lucky to have these world class players at our club, performing on the big stage"

Tbh I think the list of managers that would or might do a better job than wenger has just about run out, making his extended tenure almost inevitable as surely the board would have noticed this as well.

Giroud tries harder elsewhere, he has to, otherwise he'd be dropped. He doesn't put in a shift at Arsenal, he doesn't have to. Most of our players play better for their national teams. Again.... everything Wenger touches.......nobody even bothers to play for him. Why should they, they are on wages they can only dream about, and there is zero accountability if they fail.

This can be said of a lot of players under different managers or even one season to the next under the same manager, the biggest example being hazard who for me is up there with the best players in the world.

Outside factors do affect players form such as relationship problems. family illnesses or deaths etc, they are just human and no matter the amount of money you earn EVERY individual is affected by lifes trials.

I do believe however that also some players react positively to being a guaranteed starter which relaxes them while others can become complacent which is where the manger earns his money and benches such players to remind them of their lack of application and if this doesn't work then offloads them.
