This Suarez rumour just seems to be a tact to speed up the Higuain move. Real Madrid are dicking around about the fee so Arsenal put in an enquiry about a player RM are interested in to force RM to bid for Suarez and in turn putting Arsenal in a better position regarding the Higuain fee.

Presumably Wenger will have to do a few press conferences when we start the pre-season tour - wonder how vetted they'll be?

I don't doubt he'd be typically evasive and slippery when asked about Higuain but I suspect if asked directly he'd be forced to admit that half of these players we've been heavily linked with we've made no effort to sign.

He did play him up front and he was awful. Much better out wide like with Germany and cutting in deep.

People do get worked up on here, just chill. We'll sign some players. Convinced of it. But maybe, just maybe, signing these players isn't easy as top players aren't easy to get from other clubs. If you want genuine quality in, you have to be prepared to wait a bit while negotiations go on. It isn't as simple as just getting Higuain. He's a top talent, Real obviously wouldn't want him to go. Therefore, takes some time.

And I know people say that every year, but I'm prepared to be patient rather than meltdown.

Question 1. Do you believe wenker wants fellaini ?
If you answer yes to this then I would say to you that signing this top player isnt as difficult as you suggest - the guy has an escape clause of 23m to any champions league team so you get in there and offer the 23m and there is nothing everton can do about it. Regardless of how highly you rate the guy you would have to accept that 23m isnt huge money nowadays and especially in a world where klingon and giroud are valued at 12m+ and in an industry that values alex song at 15m

Question 2. When you are buying a car would you expect to buy a bmw for ford focus prices ? I would suggest to you that when you are trying to buy top quality then you have to pay top quality prices and all this negotiating is just embarassing posturing that makes our club and the *word censored* running it appear gormless

I agree Rigsby. I honestly don't think there's enough appreciation of this sort of thing nowadays. We now live in a world where everything has to be instant. The way that City, Chelsea and them have gone about business in previous years makes people think it's all so easy.

Regardless of the money Arsenal reportedly have, they are not in a position to just chuck "asking price" money at clubs. I've said it before, what if the player doesn't want to come to England and play for Arsenal? convincing them might take time - if it happens at all. Who knows eh? certainly not the fucking media.

Agree with this, no other TOP team has trouble signing TOP players, problem is we have spent so much time in recent years shopping in the 2nds aisles that we look like a car boot shopper walking into harrods, anything over 50 pence is frightening

Why are we not in a postion £115 mill gathering dust upfront money from out new sponsership deal and so far we have cleared around £270,000 a week around 14 mill a year of our wage bill and with more to come .

Augie, RE Fellaini - you are just talking about the fee to the club though. What about his actual contract? What if his agent has already made it clear that he would want 150K a week to move or something? What if he’s made it clear he wouldn’t want to move to Arsenal? After all, we’re not officially in the CL group stage yet. Would he be worth that sort of contract?

Looks like another one bites the dust :banghead:

Reports in Italy suggest that Manchester City have found an agreement with Stevan Jovetic. Serie A club Fiorentina insisted yesterday that they would not budge on their £25million asking price for the striker, and it is said that negotiations between the clubs are still ongoing. If a deal for the Montenegro international is close, it could be something that Manuel Pellegrini comments on during his first press conference as City boss this afternoon.

Rumour on facebook is we've bid £1.5m for a PL gk.
Probably bollocks but if not I bet it's for Cech

It'd make sense to AW since Chelsea have just bought in Schwarzer
