Putin does have nukes, but so do UK, France, USA, China and Israel. At least 3 other nations have illegal nuclear capabilities. Why are the other nations scared? If he uses them, it will be illegal use of the weapons. UN and NATO would then be engaged and Putin brought to trial. Russia would lose their right to hold nuclear weapons legally. It seems this is what they are waiting for.
If he uses them on the Ukraine it will impact nearby NATO nations and then NATO nations will be fully engaged in the conflict. Russia may be vast but it won't withstand an allied defence of Ukraine.
Putin is a narcissist, however, I don't think he'd use nuclear weapons because he'll be ruined, and he knows the consequences. I still think Russian's will turn on him because the sanctions will have an impact on the majority of it's society.
I would've thought Kiev would've been taken by now by the Russians, but it hasn't and that's due to the strength and bravery of the Ukrainians. I hope the Russian people mount a mini coup d'etat and overthrow the incumbent president. As, there is no legitimate or obvious benefit to the Russian people.
I'm sorry no offense mate but that is incredibly naive. If it goes to nukes (it won't) but if it did then the legality of their use won't matter for jack shit. If it goes to nukes it's game over. But it won't, too many happy comfortable rich people surround Shitler and they have too much to lose.

The Russian people won't rebel against him I numbers. They are mostly a poverty stricken feckless people. It'll be a general, a few generals or a few generals and a couple of Oligarchs all with the backing of the CIA and MI6 and a promise of a huge economic aid package and some back door investments for the Oligarchs.
When you look at the range of devestation nuclear bombs have it's not world ending range. They've been testing them since the 1940's in mid pacific and the radiation hasn't touched mainland. I'm not saying it's okay to go ahead and use them, it's not game over if they do get used. What I'm saying is, if Putin decided to attack as a means of defence with nukes then he would jeopardize Russia's place in world politics. He wants to build Russia. He won't use them as he can't afford to, so all this posturing is bullshit.
NATO or UN could end this tomorrow but whatever their political motivation is, and I'd link it to energy prices, remain seated on their hands, whilst their pockets get filled.

There are parts of the Pacific and parts of Nevada that are still irradiated 70 odd years after that testing - and they were low yield bombs compared to what both superpowers tested undergroundin the 70s, 80s and 90s. The problem with nuclear war is how do you limit it? They launch one, you launch one back on the hope they are not following up with a full attack? It would escalate exponentially once the first nuke flew. There is no such thing as tactical nuclear warfare, only strategic. But neither side want that. My point is that the only thing preventing that is M.A.D. and not what the world might think of Shitler. He doesn't give a fuck.

Roman Abramovich: New evidence highlights corrupt deals

Watch Panorama
Roman Abramovich's Dirty Money is on BBC One, Monday 14 March, at 20:00 GMT and on BBCiPlayer afterwards

A BBC investigation has uncovered new evidence about the corrupt deals that made Roman Abramovich's fortune.

The Chelsea owner made billions after buying an oil company from the Russian government in a rigged auction in 1995.

Mr Abramovich paid around $250m (£190m) for Sibneft, before selling it back to the Russian government for $13bn in 2005.

His lawyers say there is no basis for alleging he has amassed very substantial wealth through criminality.

The Russian billionaire was sanctioned by the UK government last week because of his links to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Mr Abramovich's assets have been frozen and he has been disqualified as a director of Chelsea Football Club.

The Russian billionaire has already admitted in a UK court that he made corrupt payments to help get the Sibneft deal off the ground.

He was being sued in London by his former business associate Boris Berezovsky in 2012.

Mr Abramovich won the case, but he described in court how the original Sibneft auction was rigged in his favour and how he gave Mr Berezovsky $10m to pay off a Kremlin official.

BBC Panorama has obtained a document that is thought to have been smuggled out of Russia.

The information was given to the programme by a confidential source, who says it was secretly copied from files held on Mr Abramovich by Russian law enforcement agencies.

Checks with other sources in Russia have backed up many of the details in the five-page document.

The document says that the Russian government was cheated out of $2.7bn in the Sibneft deal - a claim supported by a 1997 Russian parliamentary investigation. The document also says that the Russian authorities wanted to charge Mr Abramovich with fraud.

It says: "The Dept. of Economic Crimes investigators came to the conclusion that if Abramovich could be brought to trial he would have faced accusations of fraud… by an organised criminal group."

.............................................................................................................................................

Panorama tracked down Russia's former chief prosecutor, who investigated the deal in the 1990s.

Yuri Skuratov did not know about the secret document, but he independently confirmed many of the details about the Sibneft sale.

Mr Skuratov told the programme: "Basically, it was a fraudulent scheme, where those who took part in the privatisation formed one criminal group that allowed Abramovich and Berezovsky to trick the government and not pay the money that this company was really worth."

The document also suggests Mr Abramovich was protected by former Russian President Boris Yeltsin.

It says law enforcement files on Mr Abramovich were moved to the Kremlin and that an investigation by Mr Skuratov was stopped by the president.

The document says: "Skuratov was preparing a criminal case for the confiscation of Sibneft on the basis of the investigation of its privatisation. The investigation was stopped by President Yeltsin … Skuratov was dismissed from his office."

Mr Skuratov was sacked after the release of a sex tape in 1999. He says it was a stitch-up to discredit him and his investigation.

He said: "This whole thing was obviously political, because in my investigations I came very close to the family of Boris Yeltsin, including via this investigation of the Sibneft privatisation."

Mr Abramovich remained in the Kremlin inner circle when Vladimir Putin came to power in 2000.

The document contains details of another rigged auction two years later, involving a Russian oil company called Slavneft.

Mr Abramovich formed a partnership with another firm to buy Slavneft, but a rival Chinese company was planning to bid almost twice as much.
Many powerful people - from the Kremlin to the Russian parliament - would have stood to lose out if the Chinese won the auction

The document says that a member of the Chinese delegation was kidnapped when they arrived in Moscow for the auction.
"CNPC, Chinese company, a very strong competitor, had to withdraw from the auction after one of its representatives was kidnapped upon arrival at Moscow Airport and was released only after the company declared its withdrawal."

The kidnapping story is backed up by independent sources who did not know about the document.
Vladimir Milov was Russia's deputy energy minister in the run up to the Slavneft sale. He didn't comment on the kidnapping story, but he said senior political figures had already decided that Mr Abramovich's partnership would win the auction.

"I said, look, the Chinese want to come in and they want to pay a much bigger price. They say it doesn't matter, shut up, none of your business. It's already decided. Slavneft goes to Abramovich, the price is agreed.

The Chinese will be dragged out somehow."

There is no suggestion that Mr Abramovich knew anything about the kidnapping plot, or played any part in it.

His lawyers told the BBC the kidnap claim "is entirely unsubstantiated" and he has "no knowledge of such an incident".

Different factions had been fighting for control of Slavneft and there was widespread opposition to the Chinese bid.

Whatever the reason for the Chinese withdrawal, Mr Abramovich's partnership had the only bid left on the table. And they bought Slavneft at a knockdown price.

Mr Abramovich's lawyers say allegations of corruption in the Slavneft and Sibneft deals are false, and he denies he was protected by Mr Yeltsin.

Yeah! The world and his dog knew about the way Abramovich Ripped Off entire towns & villages. When the shyte hit the fan and Yeltsin gave the go ahead for a free for all to buy shares in the Mines/Oil fields/ Gas Pipe Lines etc... One of the ways the people who worked for those companies used to get paid was by dividends by being given shares rather than actual money.

And they believed the shares would be there when they retired as a Nest Egg etc.

When the collapse happened all the oligarchs (and Yeltsin & The Kremlin) were afraid that Western Money would hoover all the resources etc up, so the oligarchs (Abramovich in particular) withheld payments of the dividends to the :are Towns; All the people who lived there also worked in the fields/ mines/ factories etc - Just like coal mine sin Wales & Northern England used to, so they got cheaper rents and bought all their foods from the company owned shops and supermarkets.

All the people / workers were owed back-pay and the money they had accrued via the shares.

But the companies hiked all the food/ clothes/ medicine prices and the populations of these towns couldn't afford to feed their kids etc, so Abramovich and his fellow Oligarchs offered them the equivalent of 10p on the £ for their shares - worth millions when all told.

They had no option, either sell or starve and freeze.

That is how Abramovich made his first load of money, because he then sold the exact same shares the next day for something like 3,500 % Profit. So a share bought for the equivalent of 10p went for £350. Now times that by millions and you can see how he gained impetus as a trader.

The cun.t then sold the properties / homes the workers were living in to a Private Company who raised their rents by 200% AND The (new) share holders demanded a reduction of the workers wages, so they got Fucked over 3 times in the matter of 6 weeks.

That is why the Oligarchs are "Hated" by your average working person.

They HAD to accept the first offer

They Need the Jobs or it's un-employment

And to continue working at the same places they need a home.

Pure PURE Evil.

And that happened to millions of people / workers in Russia.

Yelstin started getting too greedy, so a number of the Oligarchs financially supported Putin, and in return for their support once he was elected he gave them all kinds of tax breaks and other gratuitous hand-shakes.

So if anyone is naive enough to think Abramovich, Usmanov ( we sure as hell dodged a bullet there!) and all the other oligarchs are being un-fairly punished by the sanctions, think again.

And yet this very week there are still Chelsea Fans on You Tube and other Social Media outlets saying "they are The Victims and saying he has been treated "unfairly" . :banghead: :cussing:

It all seems the last 3 years have been contrived to simply screw us over and keep us under control. Lockdown developed hybrid working, as soon as all restrictions removed, price of electricity, and fuel goes through the roof beyond a majority of the population budget can afford. If you got a charge at home electric car, you're fucked. If you got a diesel/ petrol car, you're fucked. If you've got GCH at home, you're fucked. No doubt some will say it's down to Brexit, but it's all across Europe. If you live in the North of the country, you're double fucked
Funny, how key workers are no longer key workers despite their jobs remaining the same, or in most cases more challenging.

Just a tough time to be alive - we are still generally very lucky for now in this country though.
Europe has had 75 years of peace - now we are starting to see what previous generations had to live through.

If this is what COVID is about, I will take that but not counting the chickens. Gonna speak to a quack tomorrow.

When I got it pre omicron I had no symptoms was testing daily as wife works in care home
Had 3rd jab 12 days before only had a bad couple of days where I was very tired and my breathless was
Much worse than what I normally have
At that time the GP did not have any drugs to give as a precaution but that has changed now
Had a fourth jab beginning of February
Wishing that you get very mild symptoms and a quick recovery

I remember you saying Gazza. I have had four jabs too, and I also have a home PCR kit because I am one of the 500,000 that qualifies for the anti virals. Apparently you post the result off, and they return the medication by post.

But again its a lottery whether I will get Merck or Pfizers antiviral. Pfizers is much better for efficacy.

I will speak to doc tomorrow to find out more. As things stand now my Temp is 37 degrees (normal), resting heart rate 90 (a bit higher than it should be), SP02 is 96 which is fine. All I have is a mild cough and sore throat right now.

Unless I get worse I might swerve the antiviral. Despite being immunocompromised it appears as though 4 jabs has done the trick. Fingers crossed
