BARCA V CHAVS

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

don't you mean disagree
Forgive me Mega and it could be because I'm stoned but: if I can't 'disagree' with the first part of Babatunde's post, as you suggest - rather than 'can't agree', as I wrote - then that would mean I wanted chelsea to win the final, no? And I can assure you I don't. :? :?

I'm just a little bit impressed that you managed to resist the temptation to go the whole hog and suggest my argument was that a championship side could beat barcelona. It must have been tempting. But no, what I am saying is that 45 minutes of the 180 minute tie could be quite plausibly achieved by a championship side.

Chelsea carried a threat first half and scored a brilliant goal which ultimately settled the tie and im not saying a championship would have done that.

I dont know if you watched it but what I saw in that second half was 9 men camped and defending space on their 18 yard box, barely having to move. It doesn't require a footballing harlem globetrotter XI to pull that off and their victory has much to thank Barcelona running out of steam in that second half for.

Uh huh.

Apart from any side managed by Wenger. If it's so easy to do, why were we smashed by Barca last year, the year before that and...errr..oh yeah 8-2 at Old Trafford!

Chelski are mercenary scum but no matter what we say or think about them, what does it say about the type of disgusting putrid mercenaries stinking it out at Arsenal, when pay-cheque footballers like Cashley, Mikel, Bosingwa, Meireles and Fat Frank can dig in, show grit, steel and a refusal to buckle, in the face of all adversity?

For all the idiotic glating about 'the Arsenal way', the fact is, that inside this club here at present, there is only one player with the balls and mental fortitude to go out there and perform with that determination and that player is Van Persie. Koscielny might make it there someday but not quite yet. And that one player, as expected, wants out!

Our club has no values and no players with pride in the shirt, it's populated by workshy mercenaries who think they are better than they are. For instance, could you ever imagine braindead Alex Song putting in the type of disciplined defensive performance required, positionally, to stem a side like Barca?

:rubchin:
WTF, mate? How can a Gooner want the chav scum to ever win anything??!! And particularly a chav team with Judas Cuntley A-Hole in it?! :o

The rest of your post is pretty much bang on, especially RE Alex Song and the fact that a Wenger side could not do what the chavs did at the Whore's place, but you are starting to sound more like your hatred of Wenger is a bigger part of your life than your love of The Arsenal. :?

Genuine question; Has Wenger ever done anything that made you happy and that you could gladly give him credit for?

I think Baba's just got a bit carried away (heaven forbid I know :D )

I don't believe for one second he'll actually sit there cheering on Chelsea anymore than any self respecting Gooner, and as soon as Lumpard or Cuntley's face comes on the screen emotion will take over and it will be bratwurst and litres of lager all round !

The sentiment of his post i.e. that Arsenal need a wake-up call, is something that I, and many others agree with. I think the only thing that will ever make the club think about changing course is to miss out on the CL spots. In reality the difference between finishing in any of the top four places to Kroenke is minimal - about £850k per place in the league - so provided the Group stage of the CL is reached it makes precious little difference financially to the 'model'. I've honestly worked with and advised like minded people for years. I can picture it now - hmmm.....so if I invest another £30m on players, and we gain 3 extra league places, that's an extra c.£2.5m on the investment - less than 10%, no I think we'll stay where we are.

However, if he loses £20m-£30m revenue in the year or two leading up to the sale of the club to the next buyer that wipes a hell of a lot of value off the table.

So in the club's best long term interests missing out on the CL for a season may be no bad thing......but I'll be buggered if I'm going to cheer for Chelsea !

Just occurred to me that this will be the chavs' second CL final, which would be one more than we have managed.

Sky are reporting that John Terry willl be allowed lift the tophy and collect his medal if Chelsea win the Champions League Final.
If you need a reason to hope for a Bayern win there it is.
Terry has let his team, club and fans down, Terry has set an awful example. Now UEFA are setting a worse example, by allowing their showpiece to become the JT show.
If Terry had any self-respect , dignity and respect for his team-mates he would stay in the background. But he hasn't and he won't. Terry is not some innocent victim of injustice, he is a thug who got what he deserved on Tuesday. I hope that he and his club do not have the opportunity to put this crass act in place

Carried away!!!! Fucking hell.... I totally agree we need a wake up call but i dont want that in the shape of chelsea winning the European Cup and us in 4th if we're going down that road why not us end 5th and the chavs win fuck all? Surely that would suit babatundes needs more so than the chavs winning and all of us Gooners (something he supposedly is) suffering twice over!!!! Its bad enough we have a club with no real ambition without a London rival club winning that trophy

Also us getting 4th but missing out would give Wenger an excuse saying in any other year we would have made it in  Baba is not as clever as he likes to make out
