THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I posted this on the Leicester thread but it fits here too;

People on here posting "this will be the season he's gone". It won't. He will decide when he goes. Results won't have any impact on his tenure. The owners are spineless and only interested in the money. Yet some people still think Wenger is the only problem. He isn't. He could get us relegated and the fucking owners would give him a couple of years to get us back up.

We have to get rid of Wenger. But equally we have to get rid of the useless lazy bastard owners who don't give a shit once the money comes in and will never sack him. :banghead:

WTF has happened to Ramsey inn the last 4/5 weeks? Where was the beast we saw in the Euro's, running his socks off, popping up everywhere, looking class.

It seems he comes back to Arsenal and doesn't give a shit. Why can't Wenger get the same out of him. I know it's a long season, and you can't expect him to maintain that sort of pace, but somewhere half near isn't unreasonable..is it?

Not got much else t say that hasn't been said a million times. At any other football club, Wenger would be answering some very uncomfortable questions today by the owners, I know I would if I showed this much incompetency in my job, and went into a project as woefully under prepared as this.

Obvious plays with his heart for Wales, for Arsenal who pay his wages he don't show up (hate Mourinho by the way but would he tolerate this?)

We may as well ride this fucker to the gutter to finally make things better. This is what it has come to - indifference, self loathing and complete apathy.

As mentioned earlier in the thread if you are pro Wenger you are anti Arsenal. Simple as that. The barometer for success this season is not where we finish, or how well we do in the cups or how we play. Nope. The only way this season can be considered a "success" is if it's his last.

Whatever set of cluster fucks need to unfold for that to happen - sign me up for them. No more picking at the bandage it's time to rip that fucker clean off.

Brace yourself fella....we got a few more years of this yet...he aint going nowhere, he has nothing in his life except football....and no one else will take him

And after winning fuck all this season do you expect him to walk away....that EGO will not allow it

Then we have listen to the Euros being an excuse. A joke, if Pogba had been eligible he would have played and he played right through to the final.

Nothing to do with heart, mate - everything to do with Coleman coaching him in his role for Wales and insisting he stick to that role. Wenger tells the likes of Ramsey to "go play your game, express yourself", Coleman tells him to play within the system or fuck off. :|

Watching Ramsey in the Euros he had a fairly free role across the middle of the park, and free to get forward when he could, but the heart and desire to win and achieve was very evident and shone through in his play, that guy gave everything for Wales

Further to that yes no accountability from Wenger as we know, no shouting, just play shit and apparently does not speak to the players just gives them a day off

Look at Wally last year fucking coasted through that season with minimal effort, no pressure....£140 K a week....PARADISE as wenger calls it

Yeah but look at how quickly he turned the ball round for Wales. He'd take it to feet, pass it and move into space. That's disciplined and whilst it gives the impression of a free roll it is still tactical and tight. With us, he takes the ball to feet and does a little twirl, then tries to slow the pace of the game by holding his pass too long, or he tries pointless unnecessary backheels, all to "express himself" which 9 times out of 10 end up with our attack getting bogged down around him or with him losing possession. The difference in Ramsey is down to the coaching and the system - or lack thereof.

That article is perfect. Especially the part bout treating Arsenal like a smaller club than we actually are.

I really dont see why so many meekly accept our position as a team that 'has no right to win the league'.

Generate the most match day revenue in Europe. Have a 60,000 seater stadium which is bigger than many others. Is home to one the major capital cities in Europe.

Yet for years Arsene has gotten away with 'top 4 is achievement'.

They say people get the government they deserve. Well the same can be said for fans, as too many Arsenal fans just buy into the notion we are not really a great and big club. Thy have bought into the cult like thinking of all that stands between Arsenal and mid table, is Wenger.

I've said it before, but this is the slow, painful end. It will drag on, it will be painful and bitter but the end will come. The press have properly turned now and there are very few pundits out there saying that we might just win the league or will definitely challenge. There are fewer of them saying we'll get in the top four. They've had enough of being made to look daft every year when we collapse or the holes aren't fixed properly. It's too obvious for people to ignore now and as far as the media are concerned, it now looks negligent and out-of-touch to promote Arsenal's chances. He's got to go. The board know it and won't extend his contract. Remember the last year of Cloughie at Forest, with players everyone said should be playing better and had given up? This will be the same.
