I see we are being linked with another "starlet" Not just any other starlet but one who will be off to the anc in jan for a month along with song, gervinho and probably eboue who despite constant rumours will probably be an Arsenal player until the day he dies

2 who can play DM.

The squad balance is fucked up completely. Arsene knows though apparently.

Can play the DM position or are good enough to play the DM cos imo we have no player to play the DM position properly :x

So what's the current view of everyone in terms of business done before the deadline

OUT: Clichy, Cesc, Nasri, Bendtner, possibly Comedy

IN: Gervinho, Jenkinson, The Ox, possibly Dann

I have to say that the above is what I believe the most likely scenario to be and if so it just makes depressing reading. I don't think too many are unhappy with 2 (or maybe 3) of the 5 going out, but the "IN" list just makes sorry reading in comparison.

If he really does get the thick end of £60m combined for Cesc and Nasri, when added to the money for Clichy, Barry and Comedy that should represent £80m coming into the coffers roughly

So far going out we have £10m for Gervinho, £1m for Jenkinson, £12m up front for the Ox and say £7m for Dann.

So we'll see a net profit of £50m on that lot and a significant lowering of the wage bill.

By my reckoning that means we could get Mata (even if up to £25m), a centre back such as Cahill and a pretty decent left back or holding midfielder and still break even, probably with a lower wage bill

We shouldn't get miffed because we've signed the Ox. The above shows that there is a place for him and some more experienced quality whilst living within our means.

I feel sorry for the kid joining to all these negative headlines about Arsenal fans being upset at his signing

I've NEVER felt this 'Low' before with regards Arsenal and the imminent start of a new season....I remember feeling inconsolable when Denis Bergkamp retired, as I "Knew" it was the end of an era....but all this shyte just keeps dragging on and on and on ad-finitum and it is dragging me down with it...every day that passes it just gets more and more depressing.

Wenger is not ignorant of the feelings of many, many long standing Gooners, and yet he seems impervious to the Collective Consensus, to Common Sense and Financial Accumin in that if he invests a relatively small amount of money the rewards can be HUGE...ie: Success/Trophies/Delirious Fans...had he invested properly 3 seasons ago we would have won a number of trophies by now.....

He then goes out and buys squillacicunto - I don't recall how much he paid for him but what a total waste of money....and whoever was the scout who recommended him to wenger needs burning alive...I have NEVER seen such incompetence....and it has now gotten to the point where all the good things wenger did and brought to Arsenal have been spoilt - because of this egomanical stance and complete refusal to adopt change and move with the times.....

None of us like the way that money now rules football (especially the prem), but that is now the Name Of The Game (no pun intended), and so everyone has to be more fluid in their thinking and actions - something Wenger seems unable to be and do.

Agreed: Newcastle's Enrique is available for £7 - £8 mill and then Parker for £5- £6 mill tops....and we would actually have a chance of Winning something....

Yes, Oxlaide must be thinking wtf is going on....new signings are usually a cause for celebration..... :suicide:

Steve O the nasri situation baffles me I have to say - the guy has one more year left on his contract, is not going to sign another deal and should be forcibly removed from the club now. We have to take control of this scenario, pick up the phone and tell citeeh or nasri's agent that if he wants to go 22m is the price and not a penny less. It is in citeeh's interest to drag this out as late as possible thus preventing us from having enough time to draft in a replacement even if it means them paying an extra couple of million at the time (cos lets face it they can afford it) if we try to hile the price as a deterrent.

The cesc situation is completely different......we dont have to sell cesc cos he has years remaining on his contract so we can dig in our heels and refuse to sell unless our asking price is met and if they dont meet it then he stays pure and simple.

Whatever happens with these two though has to happen soon so that we can then bring in quality replacement(s) and we as a club need to be proactive in sorting it and not hear more bullshit excuses from wenger and the club saying that they had no time to sign replacements for guys that have looked like leaving all fcuking summer

I don't disagree; its inevitable that they are both going so act now. Apparently the 22m is there from City. Barca are playing a longer game. But sell Nasri now and get Mata

Sell Cesc and get a decent CB and LB

Job done

I know that you are a fan of scott dann but I would much rather put the 12m fee we paid for ox with the money that would be used to sign dann and buy a proven top level international quality centre back or use the money on signing that powerful DM we so badly need.
Agree, and I think if we want to win the league this season we really need to add an experienced powerful striker to that list, simply because Van Persie has a tendency for injuries.

I am still not certain what the Oxade-Chamberlain fee is. I have seen it reported as low as £5M initially with potential for a further £5M for add ons, and as high as £15M?

Most reports say 12m + add on's whilst southampton website says it blew the previous transfer received record out of the water so considering that we paid more than 10m initial fee to them for theo I think it is safe to assume that it is more than that

Was at the club on Sunday for tour. At the end one of the tour guides made a quip about Cesc and we starting talking.

Basically he confirmed that there is money for a defender regardless of the situation surrounding Cesc. Only If Cesc were sold reforcement(s) would be brought in for the midfield.

I don't know this fella and I don't know whether this was his views but he must have some insider knowledge.
