THE WENGER THREAD
Re: THE WENGER THREAD
He is starting to come across as a false intellectual. Someone who thinks his words are golden, and his opinions are amazing insights. Although those around him, simply hear the ramblings of someone who is beyond ignorant.
What annoys me most, if even after all these years, he still hasn't been humbled enough to question himself, and perhaps change ways.

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
One has to question Wenger's justification for his self importance and ego. His record of the past 10 years simply doesn't stack up - if anything he should be embarrassed to be mentioned in the same sentence of his EPL peers. His job is to win titles - he has failed!

The man should have been sacked and declared insane for that comment alone.“We have signed Sanogo. He has not made the headlines. Why? Because he is not 50-100 million pounds. But I am quite confident he will make them soon on the pitch and that for me is the most important. Sanogo will surprise you because your expectation doesn’t look as if it is really high. He will not surprise me because my expectation level is very high. He is a top class striker”.

What he should have said;
“We have signed Sanogo. He has not made the headlines. Why? Because he is absolute gash. But I am quite confident he will make them soon in the post office and that for me is the most important. Sanogo will surprise you because your expectation doesn’t look as if it is really high - and you will be proven right. He will not surprise me because I'm bat-shit insane. He is a top class postman”.

We have plenty of sticks to beat the mad old bastard with, but let's not reduce it to disingenuous use of stats...

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
Wenger has never let the truth get in the way of his over-sized Ego and Over-sized salary.
He twists the current situation/s to suit his own agenda, which as always is self-preservation and Profit.
He is little more than a liar, and if, IF he does believe in what he is doing and what he is saying then, that is simply another reason to have the cun.t sectioned for being completely Tonto.
I can no longer bare to watch any inte4rviews or listen to the radio when he is on as I find myself getting extremely angry.

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
Not sure about bringing other people into the big transfer debacle. For me the blame lies squarely at Wengers door. John Cross actually coming out and saying that many deals are basically signed and sealed but Wenger fails to push the button is quite significant for me. I've thought it for a long time and especially since Danny Wellbeck was signed whilst he was out of the country. Granted it was only Danny Wellbeck but we didn't take long to get that deal done and dusted.
I genuinely believe the approach we've seen in recent transfer windows eg. get one good quality signing in early is something that Wenger has had pressured upon him. When that deal is done he just fucks off all summer and does nothing unless its a cheap youth project type player. As far as Arsene is concerned he did the required improvements to centre back by signing Holding then it was just bad luck the centre backs went down.

Also many of here have said for years hes frightened to spend money due to being held accountable for it. This seems absolutely bang on the money now with all this shite about "expensive mistakes". It tells you everything you need to know about the clubs ambition. Not that we needed that spelling out for us.

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
Aside from the transfer market disaster I hate our formation. Playing Sanchez up front on his own is taking the piss. He is always outnumbered by taller defenders and his strengths are as a wide player. He is a world class wide player. In a 4 4 2 he would have help and support from another striker but on his own he will never be able to find the space he needs.
Even with Giroud up front I hate the formation

I have long argued against the current system and I have always been shouted down by those claiming that 4-4-2 is outdated and dead - I am absolutely thrilled to see that clubs like ath madrrid and Leicester are achieving success by playing such an outdated formation

Wenger - May 17th 2015 -

Wenger - August 20th 2016 -“If we had bought Coquelin at Christmas for £40m, everyone would say ‘what a signing’. I am sorry he didn’t cost any money, he is still a good player.”
Rodders999 - August 23rd 2016 -"Nobody is speaking about the performance of Rob Holding today. You should be happy; he is English, he is 20 years old, but I'm sorry he didn't cost £55m, so it cannot be good."
"I am sorry that back in 1940's Strasbourg old Pappa Wenger didn't empty his bag on Madame Wenger's baps rather than up her burger, that way we would have been spared this never ending cycle of sh1t"

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
I too for years have been saying that our system is shit. 4-5-1 requires certain things we don't have, number one being a fast agile striker that can play off the shoulder at pace. For me 4-4-2 is a better system but only if used correctly. It has to be a flexible well drilled 4-4-2 where you can quickly switch temporarily to 4-3-3 to take advantage of oppo positioning or 4-5-1 when out of possession. Wenger's obsession with 4-5-1 I think is purely down to his obsession with aping the Barca tippy tappy style of midfield play. Unfortunately there is a bit more to that system than just sticking an extra midfielder in there.augie wrote:supergeorgegraham wrote:Aside from the transfer market disaster I hate our formation. There seems to be absolutely no logic in his recruitment and team selections with this formation, and when you think about it it seems to be this way ever since he changed from 4-4-2 - I wonder when I think about it now, does le cock even understand the job requirements for each position cos (for example) playing the likes of ozil, cazorla or the worlds greatest Danish striker on the wing, suggests a concept where good players can play anywhere

Literally laughing out loud in the office here!

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
Only used runner up stats for Europe finals and 10 years is a long time to have your performance measured over with some "peers" not even managing top flight sides for all that period. Nothing selective about it. Just the facts. If you're argument if a Champions League final loss is not favorably comparable to an FA Cup win then we will have to agree to disagree.DB10GOONER wrote:Fuck me, talk about being selective!Swifty wrote:One has to question Wenger's justification for his self importance and ego. Domestic Cups 2Mate, you are juking the stats there and it cheapens your argument. Why mention the runners-up spots for some, but not for Wenger? Why only quote 10 years? Why not 20? Or why not 5?

Purpose of the post was - as in most jobs - you are judged by your performance against your job requirements. As far as results go he is punching above his weight as far as who employs him, his pay grade and his level of respect.
