As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Wow - what a martyr you are!!
I know! actually giving a toss about something Arsenal related?
Like I said: what a martyr - taking on all that responsibility on your shoulders only!! Where do you find the strength?

Feck all apart from buy the French postman pat. Brilliant absolutely fecking brilliant!
Who have United signed? (assuming you mean Man Utd, and not Colchester or Dundee... )
Isn't their biggest signing so far Phil Neville as coach?
Sorry mate, I must have misunderstood the point you were making - in fact, I'm now confused as to what your point was
I thought your point was that other teams were going about their business and we aren't... but I'm not sure United signing a trialist for an undisclosed fee really adds to your point, does it? - and if even little known trialists count, then surely the French postman Pat we've signed also counts as "spending some money", doesn't it?
I'm more concerned that we haven't signed any significant players yet... signing a Uruguayan trialist wouldn't ease my concerns one bit!
But surely the salient point g88ner is that our need is far greater than theirs so it's inexcusable that we are still f**king about instead of getting our business done!! If United didn't add a single player to their squad they would still be among the favourites to win the title. If we don't add more quality to our squad then the very real likelihood is that we'll struggle to even finish in the top 4, never mind win a trophy!!

I totally Agree! but I was responding to storrmin's post which seemed (to me at least) to be providing evidence of other clubs being active in the market when we aren't... yet the evidence offered for United was them signing a Uruguayan trialist for an undisclosed fee.
I'm not convinced it added to his argument, that's all; in fact, it muddied it as why does a trialist United sign count yet Sanago doesn't? - for me, neither counts! Sp*rs, Liverpool and Citeh making significant first team signings is far more relevant.
The point you're making is different - I wouldn't compare United's needs with ours, as they're clearly on another level to us. I also don't think that was the point storrmin was making either (or at least that's not how I read his post)... but I could be wrong (I usually am )
Barcelona haven't really made any signings either. They are interested in a goalkeeper (Victor Valdes is seeing his contract out) and a centre-back (due to age and injuries, Puyol can't be relied on anymore).
I know they signed Neymar but we signed Yaya Sanogo so we're more or less even. Yaya is actually one year younger than Neymar and he was also free so we have arguably done better business than Barcelona so far this summer.
Actually I have nothing good to say about transfer, I just wanted to remind Red Gunner about his next post. You know what should include Bring on the ladies

Are you for real???
I'd imagine not... although it's hardly humorous either, so who knows!

So the general point that Storming was making was that we are still inactive while it seems all and sundry are buying. You were right in saying that Man United haven't exactly spent big but I thought that was being picky because the general thrust of his complaint was valid - thus my post saying that even if United sign no-one, they remain a genuine title threat, which can not be said for us. None the less, the fact remains true that despite our very real and widely acknowledged need, we have done feck all yet to seriously strengthen our team.

Didn't mean to be picky in a bad way - I was just seeking clarification on whether he meant Zaha (who signed in Jan) or whether there was another deal that had slipped my mind (which happens a lot ). I could have googled their transfer activity I suppose, but in the spirit of forum debate, I thought I'd ask
I agree that it's valid to complain about our lack of activity, but then that opinion is shared by ALL of us, so the only thing that stood out to me was the surprising mention of United's spending... so I queried it (picky fucker that I am )
