The Summer 2014 TRANSFER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

So you expect Sanchez to be the hold up man all season in a rigid formation that won't benefit him?
Alternatively he could be the front man in a more flexible system (more 4-3-3 than 4-5-1) which utilises pace and movement rather than brawn and hold-up play to benefit the team. :rubchin: :rubchin: He could also play on either side of that formation (including in a 4-5-1) and alongside Giroud if switching to a 4-4-2.

I won't get too excited until it is actually confirmed but if we pull this off I think it will be a cracking signing. 8)
Wenger? Changing his tried and tested formation to get the best out of his players? Don't get your hopes up on that one.

I'm certain we'll change our system to suit his qualities.

Well his 'tried and trusted formation' always used to be 4-4-2 before he switched it a few years ago. Perhaps he will see the sense in doing so again? :rubchin:

(Yes, I have been smoking)

Guillem Balague @GuillemBalague
Convinced Alexis will be an Arsenal player very soon. He wants 2 play 4 Wenger. And the transfer fee won't be huge. Sound business by AFC
Guillem Balague @GuillemBalague
Been told Arsenal will pay less than 30m for Alexis. Lallana was 25. Fair valuation u think considering age, goal record, experience?
