THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Eh, not sure we really need to build a case as such, just compile his media quotes over the last year - job done :barscarf:

What on earth are you doing on there??? 2 of the greatest bellends imaginable run that show, If arselickerblog lives in wengers colon then untold arsenal is the cancer in that colon.......utter utter Kunts!!!!

basically Untold Arsenal is what we are up against.
I just went on to see if there had been ANY shift in mood since the start of the season......but no, they are just a bunch of :censored:
The trouble is a lot of them to still inhabit the Emirates. I just dont know what needs to happen for their views to change. Quite depressing really..

Ok so i've been following Arsenal since the early/mid 80's so can one of you 'old farts' :pixie2:

who have been around much longer really tell me that Arsenal in the 70's and before was worse than it is now to follow?

It seems to be the one justification that some of the older long term Gooners who still kiss AW's arse seem to use as justification to continue backing him :?

Klopp - a motivator that can bind an underdog team and supporters and create a mental edge against a single dominant force, wrong league.
Conte - emotional but thoughtful. Knows he is up against it but will be up for it.
Mourinho - can motivate, engages the competitive spirit, has the record that magnetises, makes smart choices and would LOVE an Adams and Viera in his side.
Pep - too smart, too consistent, doesn't fuck about - gets exactly the players he wants and jettisons the ones that don't fit.
Wenger - can find an attacking midfielder, has no mongrel in him, has no emotion, has no desire, is too comfortable and as such does not understand what makes a real defender or a real holding midfielder and has no idea about an aggressive killer striker. One trick pony - wanker!

It was... different. :lol: There were good years and terrible years. BUT;

We had a proper stadium. We had players that (mostly) seemed to give a shit. We didn't pay the highest ticket prices in Europe for the lowest relative return. The football was often terrible and sometimes amazing. We were run as a football club, not a business. We had class and tradition. There was a real unified "us against the world" vibe to being a Gooner.

Personally nowadays is the most disconnected I've ever felt from the club I've supported through thick and thin for over 40 years. :| For me Modern Arsenal is nowhere near as much fun to support as it was as a kid in the 70's, a teen in the 80's and a man in the 90's. :(

For me the dream started to turn sour in 2007 and has gradually gotten worse since. :| :x

I'd agree with most of that, but the bit you left out is pragmatism. Every one of them except Wenger has some element of the pragmatic to their management style - even the over-rated Klopp. Wenger has not got a single pragmatic bone in his body. He will literally cut off his nose to show his face how beautiful a knife he is holding. :|

When the injuries kick in, and we all know they will, is when the pressure will become intolerable for him. He cannot exactly say at press conferences that we are crippled by injuries as the next question will be, well then when you had the chance why didn't you.........

Mind you, the interviewer will probably just nod in sympathy.

I started chuckling at the headline of 'THE CASE OF THE EWOB'... (Apparently they don't know that ALL CAPS on the internet is SHOUTING, and they imply all people who criticise Wenger are stupid)

By the time I had finished reading this long, bloated garbage I was in hysterics! The writer was clearly attacking people who believe Wenger's time is up with pseudo intellectualism based on human psychology and.....ageism?!? We cannot possibly support the club if we want Wenger to leave, a view so incredibly narrow minded that shows up how unintelligent the writer actually is.

I sincerely hope these type of supporters disappear with Wenger when he finally goes, they are as big a burden as he is.

That "article" is ill-informed, hypocritical, and in parts actually quite offensive... What an utter gashtard the "author" is.
Christ I just read the comments section under that utter shite "article". Fuck me swinging. So many of our supposed fans are absolute window licking arseholes. They seem to think accepting whatever shit is thrown at them by Wenger and the club and never criticising anything ever about Arsenal somehow makes them "real" fans. Fucking gobshites.
It really does put in perspective what we are up against, I don't think they will ever realise or admit that Wenger is a busted flush.

Another article on there describes what would be the 'Wenger Out Brigade' as 'them'. 'Them'!

The thing is, as has been stated by yourself several times DB10 I think, this forum welcomes alternative views on the club/manager, as long as those views are reasonable, can be backed up and purely on the basis of not being on the wind up. To my knowledge (correct me anyone if I am wrong) that site doesn't even allow another point of view other than that Wenger is the man, and deletes any comments that may make sound cases for Wenger's departure. That says to me maybe that they don't really want to read/hear the truth because it hurts!

you wanna hear some of the fucktards on instagram, there aren't many but boy the ones that still follow Wenger JESUS FUCKING CHRIST!!! I had some jumped up little prick last week tell me that if I wanted to win trophies to 'fuck off and support Utd' I mean WTF can you say to that?? its beyond parody,Wenker has got his disciples believing that its not the winning but the taking part, typical Wenker ploy lower the expectations so much that they think anything is success, cant wait for this seasons certain capitulation by feb,it will somehow still be heralded as Wenkers greatest ever achievment

After all is said and done I do think it's sad that it's got to the point where I don't want to listen to him and can't stand him when he's interviewed.
We all used to love the man, 98-05 he was someone with legend status and now it's all come to this.
Stubbornness is a weakness not a strength and unfortunately his disrespect of the fans means he will never turn it around, even if the title returned this season...which clearly it won't.
As someone said the other day, Arsenal and Wenger are staying together...for the kids.

I completely agree.

We had some bad teams in the 70s, but it seemed that the management, the players and the fans were all passionate about the club. It felt like my club.
AW speaks as if it's his club and we should be grateful just to be allowed to come along for the ride.
