THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

What an arrogant deluded old man!

And why doesn't any journalist have the cojones to challenge him when he spouts this utter garbage season after season??

For years the chump said that nobody can compete with financially doped clubs. Suddenly he drops that and tries to use Ranieri's success as justification. Followed by "Judge me in May" again.

The day the stupid old chump finally leaves will be almost as good as 26th May 1989
Pointing towards Leicester as evidence hay you don't need to spend after years of saying you can't compete was as predictable as his latest panic signing.

The bloke is the most predictable man in football.

I guess it is just a question of when the extension will be confirmed now.

This Perez signing is ridiculous.
We already have more than enough average strikers

No other club faced with our financial restraints had performed as well as AW. Always in the top four, sometimes even challenging for honours. So Arsene should be judged not from 2005 but from 2013
Anyone read the fucking drivel on the main site from that bore Graham Perry on his latest Arsenal Circular ? :banghead:

Doesn't really matter if you choose 2005 or 2013 he has still failed dismally in the league and champs league. Probably even worse since 2013 due to extra money that was available.

Nothing note worthy about this win. We have players good enough to dismantle Watford. There will even be a time this season where we win 6-7 games in a row and go unbeaten for around 15 matches. But it all unravels and comes to nothing.

We have some great players, no doubt about it. But thats where the criticism comes from. Wenger has underachieved given the time, money, playing talent, and the flexibility he has enjoyed. Other managers have achieved more with less money, less playing talent, less time, and working under less flexibility and greater interference from above.

Excellent win, good day all round.
Support was brilliant and little negativity in the section I was in.

Just gutted there's an international break.
Sense we're going to go on a lon run in the league now. :barscarf: :barscarf:

"Arsenal attempted to sign Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann, 25, but the France international told Arsene Wenger at Euro 2016 that he did not want to leave Spain. (Sun on Sunday)"

Yet another one for our Virtual Squad.

If ... IF this really did happen Wenger was probably offering £100+ a Lucky Bag.

That Wenger wanted to sign him but the board refused

No offence to you but that is absolute bullsh*t - people continually acknowledge that the board are in awe of the senile old c.unt, and now we are supposed to believe that they would refuse to buy a player he wants ?? :? Absolute bollocks being created by crunts trying yet again to deflect blame from le cock
I thought it was a propaganda story to make out Wenger to buy big, and make it look like the board didn't want to. Was just hoping some journo would challenge the story reported in a couple of rags on Thursday.

I have used this example before, but the 2007/2008 season still gets to me. We had a great team, and a prolific striker in Adebayor, but Wenger's incompetence cost us the title. Everyone said we needed a striker in the January window, but Wenger refused. Then Adebayor's goals dried up, and that *word censored* Taylor broke Eduardo's leg, and our season went up in smoke. Fast forward a year, and when the VT was in doubt, he bought Arshavin. That summed Wenger up. He was unwilling to do everything it takes to win the league, but was happy to do whatever it took to finish in the VT position.

Has anyone read the article on the main Gooner website by Graham Perry???? It should give you a good laugh (if your blood pressure can stand it).

I'll give you a clue which way Perry swings by the title of his article "Arsene shouldn't be judged on 2005 to 2013". It is an utter load of garbage from start to finish.

If I can be bothered I'll write an article taking his nonsense apart and pointing out why Wanker should have been sacked many many times since 2005.

Got half way through it and stopped ,some people are just deluded and nothing you can do about it,an absolute Wenger disciple.

That season still bugs me too. Every man and his blind dog could see we needed to strengthen in January but Wenger refused. After that disastrous Brum game Gallas as captain should have shown Wenger why a good captain is vital by pushing his team mates to drive on for the title through adversity, but of course Gallas turned out to be a selfish spineless cúnt and utter gash as a captain and leader of men, utter utter gash. :x

After that season I said I'd give Wenger 2 years before I started calling for his head. 2 years is enough to rebuild a team. May 2010 duly came and we had regressed with Project Ego in full swing and I've actively wanted him gone since then. 6 years later and he's still here...
