Once Cesc and Nasri have left, Old Twinkle-Toes will play in his rightful position and go on to be the player of your dreams Augie, and you too will be owing me a bottle of champers when the Imperious One skips through the Barca defence to deliver the winning goal in the CL final

......unlike Vela, who will still be, and always will be, a roll-neck wearing tippy tappy little twat :D

Yes - we need a central defender but call it selfish I don't want Danns....no matter how good he is.
There's something not BIG about signing a player from a Championship club. It's not a marquee signing but I'd prefer either Jagkielka or Cahill. I know they're just names but there's a bigger sign of intent buying them two then Dann.

It's like going to Rymans to big a Bic pen, when equally you could buy a Parker from Harrods for much more. Both do exactly the same but it shows what type of person/club you are.
What? two of our three signings so far were from division 2 :banghead: :banghead:

I'm fully aware but they are prospects....apparently. I can accept that in terms of development.
I want Premiership ready, quality defenders now. Not to wait another 5 years.

Actually all three came from league 1, two from the old Division 3. So a Championship (Div 2) player is a step in the right direction.

No problem signing players from the lower division if they're balanced with quality. Moyes especially has been good at doing it.

Right Gents....Doom and gloom out the window. Season starts on Saturday. Bring it on. All those going to Newcastle make yourselves be heard. Arsenal are our team. Let them bloody know it. I live in Dublin and am obviously not a season ticket holder but to those who are, why is it everytime I watch an Arsenal home gameon TV I can hear a pin drop. Regardless of what has happened this summer and who they turn out to be, There will be 11 guys out there in Red and White, wearing the same shirt as you have undoubtedly bought, playing for US. Support them with everything you have and end all this Armageddon talk once and for all. CMON THE GUNNERS

Totally agree...but my point was that we need a sign of intent. Signing a player like Dann simply doesn't tick that box for me. This is regardless whether Dann is better then PJ or GC.
Just stinks of bargain basement signing again and that's not fair on Dann's.

However, if Dann's 1 of 2 signings then great!

Did you mean to post this in the Newcastle thread not the Transfer?

Still waiting for your transfer window predictions........can't be that hard to cut and paste a prediction. Or do you simply prefer to sideswipe at others rather than make a prediction yourself ?

I'll be very happy if we sign Dann, for two reasons in particular:
1). It means Squillaci and Djourou should be further away from a 1st team spot......this is vital if Arsenal are going to gain any success!
2) Dann is British and a big lump, so I can see 100% effort and an improvement at set pieces.
I still hope for another CB signing, because I personally think Vermaelen may be best out at left back, as he isn't that great a CB and he will be more solid at LB as he won't bomb forward so much.
We still need to see about 7 deals at Arsenal yet, with 4 going out and 3 more coming in, assuming Nas and Cesc go (I want them to) then Mata, Parker (or Barton), and another CB in. I'd like to see a top quality striker too but Wenger won't sign another with Gervinho and Theo being able to play up front as well.
