More to-do with not playing Ramsey & Giroud than anything else, we had pace and a desire to close down and win the ball.LaughingGooner wrote:Wenger's deserved criticism in the past for his tactical shortcomings, but his team selection yesterday was perfect.
He deserves praise for sticking with Sanchez and his midfield choices were spot on.
Great energy from the first minute. A brilliant performance all round.
One of the best performances at the Emirates. Hope the momentum continues into next week.

I must trawl back through my old posts but I think you'll find I mooted the Sanchez as striker option about 2 years ago on here. I have managed zero games, made zero transfers, have worked in the game for zero years but I think you'll all agree Rodders Knows

I agree, no excuses now. He may have stumbled on this winning formula but however he got there, it's looking good.GoonerMuzz wrote:For once i have to agree LG but the problem remains that this is AW we are talking about.LaughingGooner wrote:Wenger's deserved criticism in the past for his tactical shortcomings, but his team selection yesterday was perfect.

Unfortunately history dictates that far too often when things are working well he has to tinker to get his 'favourites' back into the team and it all goes to shit again.
He has a prime opportunity to keep things going forward as their seems to be a bit of a buzz in the team but i just know he will somehow conspire to screw it up, i hope he doesn't but as they say it's the hope that kills you
Play this same team now until injuries, suspensions or a clear lack of form calls for a change.
Just hope he doesn't feel the need to shoehorn Ramsay back into the team when fit.
I actually think Giroud could be a good sub as he does offer something different for a tiring defence.
Re: THE WENGER THREAD
Im still not convinced of this line up/style but it certainly workled agin the chavs !
Im a great beleiver in building from the back and that IS taking shape.
I dont care if le duffer was forced into it nor that Theo seems to have had a suffiecient kick up his arse to get going or that Iwobi is starting
to shine ,I only care is things are getting a little bit better ,lets hope we can continue !

Good points made about TOF lucking into his 'internal solutions'.
I love Sanchez, but I don't think he's right for a lone striker. Still, if that keeps the donkey out of the side... It's also sad to not see Perez get a chance up front. You just know that donkey and Ramsey will be shoe-horned back in the side and to hell with the consequences.
It was also annoying that, like last season against Manure, we didn't put the blue scum to the sword in the second half. They were so dismal, they were asking to be smashed for six. Fuck knows, we owed them a good hiding.
Anyway, we're up to 3rd now. Won our last four league games. Looks like Citeh will win it. Nothing matters apart from this being TOF's final season here.

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
We can be a right bunch of flip floppers on here sometimes - only last week I read loads of comments on here (re the psg game) saying that sanchez cannot play the centre forward role, and now less than a week later le cock is getting credit for playing him there ??
For what it's worth I still don't believe that the guy is suitable to play the lone striker role and I believe that time will prove that to be the case, but when that happens can we please not have the fans in question coming on here and slating wenger for picking sanchez at centre forward ?

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
How many times do ye think that steve o has voted for the guy in 9th place ?

absolutely agree augie, the fact we mullered Chelsea with that line up was a one off,i think the way the chavs played the arsenal ladies would have beaten them, sanchez up front does not work,we got lucky Saturday,i bet Wednesday game against basel is more of what weve seen so far this season with sanchez huffing and puffing up front with little to show.the starting line up against the chavs was wrong,we got lucky, wenger isn't a genius and I expect more disappointment from this starting 11 than elation in the coming weeks, yes to smash the chavs was great and an awesome display but a lot of people here have short memorysaugie wrote:We can be a right bunch of flip floppers on here sometimes - only last week I read loads of comments on here (re the psg game) saying that sanchez cannot play the centre forward role, and now less than a week later le cock is getting credit for playing him there ??For what it's worth I still don't believe that the guy is suitable to play the lone striker role and I believe that time will prove that to be the case, but when that happens can we please not have the fans in question coming on here and slating wenger for picking sanchez at centre forward ?

This "luck" seems to be getting a habit this season....

Iwobi has to be a regular starter, he is so so good, go through that game again and see what he does....

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
Alexis still not a striker despite having a couple good games up there. Yes, he CAN play there and effectively sometimes. But it is not his best position and in games against better competition it won't work.
Anyways, as soon as Ramsey is healthy we all know he goes straight back into the starting 11 and the team will suffer because of it.

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
Augie - who's flip flopping? Some people do genuinely believe Sanchez would be a good striker. Some don't. All I've seen is the same people saying what they've always said. For what it's worth I don't think Sanchez is a natural lone striker but he can certainly do a job to some extent in there. Would he hit 20+ in the PL over a whole season in that role? I doubt it tbh as he isn't consistent at all.markyp wrote:absolutely agree augie, the fact we mullered Chelsea with that line up was a one off,i think the way the chavs played the arsenal ladies would have beaten them, sanchez up front does not work,we got lucky Saturday,i bet Wednesday game against basel is more of what weve seen so far this season with sanchez huffing and puffing up front with little to show.the starting line up against the chavs was wrong,we got lucky, wenger isn't a genius and I expect more disappointment from this starting 11 than elation in the coming weeks, yes to smash the chavs was great and an awesome display but a lot of people here have short memorysaugie wrote:We can be a right bunch of flip floppers on here sometimes - only last week I read loads of comments on here (re the psg game) saying that sanchez cannot play the centre forward role, and now less than a week later le cock is getting credit for playing him there ??For what it's worth I still don't believe that the guy is suitable to play the lone striker role and I believe that time will prove that to be the case, but when that happens can we please not have the fans in question coming on here and slating wenger for picking sanchez at centre forward ?
markyp - what the fuck man? People being happy we finally smashed the chav is pissing you off?

No one is saying we are now a great team. But we were brilliant against the chav.
No offence lads, but I don't get you pair. If we'd lost you'd be on here (rightly) moaning. We won and you're still on here moaning.
