As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Unfortunately I'm pretty sure Wenger thinks the DM position is covered. He may get another striker in but I reckon it will be of the underwhelming variety
If we are left with Arteta and Flamini covering god help us......
As for the cunning plan would be nice to think so but this is the same Manager that went into last season with no cover at CB, a decision which IMO was scandalous......not being funny here but if we can see it, WHY can't he FFS

I think Negredo would be better for us than Giroud, and while Llorente is better than Giroud as well, Negredo is quicker and has better movement. Still a bit underwhelming though.
I agree and disagree with you both. For me, both are probably better technical footballers than Giroud, both are probably faster, but both seem to me to be even more inconsistent than Giroud. Either way, all 3 are of a reasonably similar level. We need a consistent 20+ PL goals a season striker. None of the 3 of them are that and probably never will be.
Again I will say that he is far from my first choice but
(a) le cock wont buy a top quality striker
(b) he is better than giroud and MILES better than Llorente
(c) buying players that are being hawked around is le cock's m o - cant remember the last decent player that he actually battled to sign

Am totally fcuking bored today It seems that every summer us Gooners feel that we are close to having a team that can really challenge for the big prizes again, but we all know that we will never take that leap under le cock. Some misunderstand the whole frenzy around signings/potential signings - I believe that if we were a distance away from challenging again, then the level of excitement would be a bit more muted regardless of who we bought, but because we are close everyone hopes that the next signing is the one to take us over the hump. In that regard it isn't the signing itself but more the implications of the signing

Sanchez?
If you count Liverpool as a credible alternative that is.

I like to think Wenger reads this thread and will be so warn down by Augie's incessant calls for a DM , that he'll buy a beast of a defensive midfielder just to shut him up

And I don't Barca were happy to get rid after signing the buck toothed cannibal so we did not have to exert one bit of pressure on them to sell and that is the point I was making

And I like to think that he is at home at night pissing himself laughing as he reads your posts about how confident you are that he will buy the necessary players

I was going to say Sanchez, but I knew what your reply would be and I realised I would ultimately agreed with it
We don't muscle our way in on big players. We prefer to wait for opportunities to present themselves.
The closest we came to putting pressure on a club over a player was Suarez... and at the first sign of trouble, we swiftly backed off and abandoned all attempts to sign him

I think most of us would be a little less jaded if the rumours were even slightly credible rather than the same regurgitated every summer.
As with G88ner i'm becoming less confident with each passing day, i genuinely felt that he'd get in one other decent signing, not necessarily brilliant but something to shore things up after Cech but i'm beginning to think that's our lot unless someone get injured between now and deadline day, and even then i'm not sure internal solutions wont be used.
