THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Why doesnt he stop talking about the England job, and get Ozil, Bellerin and Sanchez contracts sorted out.

I want to see the City fans smug faces when he signs on. As they already are listing Bellerin as their next seasons right back. Its the is one thing that winds me up, its City fans assuming Sanchez, Bellerin ect will one day end up with them.

However the truth is, most teams see us as a soft touch, and its up to Wenger to reaffirm Arsenal as a elite club. The reputations we earned on being an easy target in terms if our players being easily bought was horrible. It really did damage the reputation and aura of the club. Getting the likes of Ozil, Sanchez and Bellerin to commit should be among the highest priorities right now, as it will help shake of that perception.

Journalist - "Arsene, do you know the words to 'God Save the Queen"

Wenger - "Yes"

We could turn it into a long overdue 'Let's all laugh at England' thread :barscarf:

Publicly flirting with the England job by refusing to rule himself out of taking it next summer is him laying down the gauntlet to the club for the contract extension. Yet again the stars have all aligned for the lucky bastard and with a run of fixtures coming up against the dross it's only a matter of if and when I blow my own brains out :banghead:
The old bastard has the luck of the devil :banghead: :censored:

Dixon left back with Cole right back ? Seriously ?

Much as I love Wrighty, during Wenkers despotic reign Henry no doubt eclipsed him.

Really enjoyed the Wenger 20 year discussion on the BBC 2 Premier League programme.
I'm wondering how Morgan made it out alive the looks he was getting from Keown, Hartson and Wrighty when he was ranting about Wenger getting the sack were murderous.
The question that discussion raised for me, is that have we underestimated the sacrifice Wenger made for his own professional ambition as he committed to keep Arsenal in the top 4 knowing he would not have the capability to work with top calibre players that he had previously?

To add, the joy on Wenger's face as he applauded Ozil's goal against Chelsi look like a manager acknowledging that his team have finally got to the level he wants them to reach.

That's never been a question for you. Why are you so scared to say how much you admire & respect the man?? Nobody's going to bite you I promise. The way you go about it is pretty cowardly.... a kind of backhanded, admiration by stealth while pretending to be fed up to the back teeth like the rest of us.

I think it should be left open for ever as a warning to future generations of Gooners..This is what can happen if a manager is too long and has too much power in the position..

For me the biggest frustration in the last 10 years was the fact that Wenger ignored the obvious. He failed to buy a quality goalkeeper and decided it was a good idea to sign and play players like Silvestre.
Regardless of our financial situation we were doomed season after season. If you add the fact he ignored the DM position as well he left us weak at the back.
This season we have finally got all the right players and look solid.
I know it's too late for most of you on here but I want the guy to go out with a bang. If this season turns out to be the same as all the others then it's his last season.
For me though the 2 managers I want manage Liverpool and Man City. I'm not into the lets sign Howe gang.
He has done well but Arsenal are out of his league.
