THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I'm always concerned but because these players are a combined worth of over 150 Million I'm sure new deals will be put in place soon. Only concern is that Sanchez requested a release clause.

I'm moving to Singapore in the new year to work at the Selatar site. Went for a recky last month and quite liked the place. flamini will be labouring during his fourth stint at the club, and walcott will be slightly nearer to reaching his full potential :barscarf:

Gabriel was a bad buy but luckily we signed Mustafi. It's made a huge impact to the team and who knows.
Wengers time is almost up because of age so I'm more interested in seeing how this team perform all season. It's a big improvement on last season so far. Burnley will beat a lot of top teams at thier home ground this season. It wasn't a great performance but winning 1 v 0 very good.
Agreed, this is the best team since 2005. We have no passengers in the first 11, and for the first time since 2005, we have not just a top centre half pairing, but high quality wing backs and a world class keeper. When you look back, over the years we had good very defenders like Sagna, to to an extent Gallas, but many others had question marks over them, such as Clichy and his poor concentration. Vermaelen being too much of a ball playing centre half rather than foremost a defender. Gibbs was never more than a top 10 left back. Then you have the horrible defenders such as Eboue, Silvestre, Senderos, Squillaci Santos, and faulty manual in goal. It was obvious for years we never had a back line of quality. Its different now though, Bellerin, Kosicleny, Mustafi Monreal, Cech is actually quite brilliant. I think as time goes by, we have a real chance of being the team to concede the least amount of goals this season. Add to that, finally Wenger has dropped Giroud, and with all that movement and pace upfront, were scoring pretty freely.

However, any attempt to bring Giroud back into the team, or shift Ramsey onto the wing, would be disastrous. As far as im concerned, Giroud only gets back into the team baring a major injury crisis, and Ramsey should simply be an understudy to Ozil. I dont even trust Ramsey down the middle. Cazorla, Coquelin, Xhaka and Elneny should by the only players to play in the middle. Ramsey should be used as a number 10, or second striker.

Wenger has got to resist playing favorites and putting square pegs in round holes if we are to have any chance. And yes, we do have a great chance of winning the league this year, given we have an excellent squad. Just not a strong manager though. Pep shipped out Hart and hasnt even bothered to name Yaya Toure on his bench - thats what we need. Wenger needs to freeze out the players who do not fit into the system, and Giroud and Ramsey are the two biggest casualties.

Giroud has his place this season on the bench. Say what you like about him but his goal record from coming on as a sub is really impressive. Last 20 mins in a tough game Giroud is the man. Ramsey proved his quality in the World Cup but he has to play in the Ozil role agreed so again he will also have to be a sub but could also start in some games as the fixtures come thick and fast. Just good to finally watch a solid Arsenal team once more. Why did it take him 10 years ?

The stories about the heavy fines are largely that ,as long as you don't run round causing criminal damage, fight or take drugs you can pretty
much do as u like if your an Ang Moh ! Always pay the taxi Driver and if u puke in the car give him $50 more to clean it !

Seletar was a great place with many old black n whites (colonial style buidings) had a great Chilli House ,now closed ,but no doubt they will turn it into yet another shopping mall and premium but bland food n beverage outlets ,something which SIngapore has more than enough of allready !

Too much old Singapore is vanishing always for the worse but always for profit ,I loved living there and miss it ,you will most likely live out that way on the east coast which is great and cheaper than the city !
