ARSENAL CHASE BRAZIL ACE
Arsene Wenger to move for £15m midfielder Felipe Melo
By ROB SHEPHERD, 20/06/2009
ARSENAL are poised to make a £15million move for Brazil's Felipe Melo.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has identified Fiorentina star Melo as the midfield anchor man he needs to add steel and experience to his young side.
Melo, 26, made an immediate impact in his first season in Serie A with some robust displays - but his tough style earned him a staggering 17 yellow and three red cards.
Despite that he has forced his way into the Brazil side and will start today against Italy in the Confederations Cup after scoring in the 3-0 win over USA.
Melo is seen the ideal sidekick for Cesc Fabregas and the Gunners may try to use Philippe Senderos as bait.
Senderos is surplus to requirements at AC Milan after a season-long loan at the San Siro - as he is at the Emirates after the arrival of Ajax defender Thomas Vermaelen for £10million on Friday.

ANCELOTTI IS £25M ADEBUYER
21st June 2009 By Harry Pratt
CHELSEA are poised to launch a £25million bid for Arsenal hitman Emmanuel Adebayor.
The Blues, who failed to land the Togo striker last year, have been frustrated in their hunt for major names this summer.
Brazilian star Kaka snubbed the Londoners in favour of Real Madrid – and Valencia hitman David Villa seems certain to do the same.
That has left new Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti still looking for a world-class target man, with Adebayor, 25, suddenly at the top of the Italian’s shopping list.
The ex-AC Milan manager almost took the Emirates star to the San Siro last year.
But Gunners boss Arsene Wenger persuaded Adebayor to stay put – thanks to a bumper pay rise and a huge four-year, £60,000-a-week contract.
However, Arsenal fans were angry at the way the player still demanded to get away.
A dip in form last season compounded the problem.
Adebayor was accused of not trying and he was booed by sections of the crowd. That could play a big part in Wenger’s decision whether to allow one of his key men to join a top-four rival.
But the Frenchman has made it clear he would have no problem doing business with any of the English elite if he felt it was right for his club.
Adebayor is keen to leave and on the penultimate weekend of last season launched a stinging attack on the Arsenal boo-boys, as exclusively revealed in the Daily Star Sunday.
And with Wenger needing money to fund a number of moves, Chelsea are optimistic of landing their man.

Felipe Melo flattered by transfer talk
[quote]Arsenal reported target Felipe Melo has declared he is flattered to have been linked with various top European clubs.
The Brazil international, who had an absolutely outstanding game against Italy at Emirates Stadium last season, is delighted to be at the centre of the attention.
The Fiorentina midfielder is believed to be a target for The Gunners, who nevertheless are yet to make an official offer to La Viola.
“Obviously it is a good thing that great clubs are interested, as it shows that I worked well,â€

exactly, i do not want to see senderos wearing the red & white shirt next year

he has hardly played for a year and when he has its been in italy, so i can imagine he has got even slower
It will be a good chance to see our apparent transfer target melo tonight in the brazil v italy game bbc 3 7pm, against good opposition in the middle of the park in pirlo, gattuso, rossi
