To be fair I was at the CL first leg away to Chelsea (my mate's brother couldn't go so i took his seat from him) and they were quality, today though they were complete shite.SWLGooner wrote:They are so so overrated. Never seen em really impress me and I've seen em at Fulham, Chelsea, Arsenal taking 7k to U.P., sunlun, not once properly good for away fans.
Couldn't agree more.ThomasMitchell wrote:Agree with much of this. Despite all the possession we actually created only a few chances in the game overall. As for the moaners, again correct to say they are not the best we have seen - I would say the weakest we have seen in 20 years. Which makes it all the more frustrating because with just a bit of investment in the team we could have achieved so much more. Not good enoughUSMartin wrote:I would agree on his form this year we might have missed him today less than would have a season or two or three earlier. I just think we still are too reliant on him to really oprovide that final ball in this team set up this way. I mean if as someone said this is our first eleven (plus Vermalen for Kos) next year I'm thinking the defence and Keeper would have to be excellent every match for us to be top four, and near-prfect every match for us to have a shot at winning..ThomasMitchell wrote:Fair point about the final ball but in reality have we not missed that is so many games this season even when Fabregas has been playing? And as you say we can't take too much from today - although I am sure Wenger will trot out the usual comments about how close we are to the moaners and one last push next season will be enough.USMartin wrote:Have to disagree - thought we lacked that final ball he specializes in all day long. In think if United had gotten out of first gear at any point coulld easily have been opunished for that. We did well and held our nerve in the end certain and crdit is due to several players really - Ramsey obviously and Wilshere, Koscielny, Szczesny, and Djourou, and later Arshavin - and I'm sure others will name some others, but I wouldn't take too much from today other than sheer delight and making United suffer and maybe - just maybe - denying them the Premiership before its done.ThomasMitchell wrote: Well we certainly didn't miss him, if the result is anything to go by. Delighted he did not play and we won. I couldn't care less if we never see him again.
Again don't forget that was hardly the best United team of the last 20 years we were facing and they were hardly playing at top level and still before Ramsey's goal looked more likely to score first despite just sitting back all day.
I think we can survive if Cesc goes and maybe even prosper but its all down to what we do with the money available already plus any we get from his sale, and then how we set this team up. I might spend more on that defensive central midfielder and as much on a quality wide man and go back to 4-4-2 as on the needed central defender. Of course if we wnt for Moussa Sissoko not only could he the new Vieira in a new 4-4-2, but our Essien in our 4-3-3.
My worry is we won't invest sufficiently again - especially if Cesc leaves - and everyone in front and behind us invests in strengthening, and that will mena not only did we throwq away the best opportunity we've had in some time, but maybe the last we'll have for sometime as I think this team without really major improvemnts would have to go injruy-free in a manner unlike any year since the Invincibles and hope everyone else has shit luck with injuries to win, otherwise we're in a fight for fourth from the opening kick....fall short then and Lord Knows when will have anything to win other than a domestic Cup maybe anytime soon.

a taste of their own medicine this week what with chelsea being gifted two goals
This is the only guy who knows what he's on about. The others are spoilt fucking mongs who are used to all the referee decisions. If the Ref had done his job properly Vidic would have walked, and we would have been 1-0 down playing with ten.
Not getting our penalty was frustrating but it balanced out for sure.

Let's not get carried away. Todays win came after a run of shocking results that should not be forgotten.
There was no real pressure on either team today. We are looking forward to the summer holidays and the Mancs are still in control of the league.
We always play better against the more attacking teams and for once we held onto a lead.
Is Ramsay the difference between an inept team and the best in the land. I don't think so.
We need these performances and results when there is something to play for.
Always enjoyable to see us win especially against the Mancs ,but this doesn't mean everything in the garden is rosy.

I'm just back from North London. Again we had a brillant weekend. Met fantastic people. Drunk most of the time. Had a lot of fun. I also met Wilsher, Nasri, and Song after the game and talked with them, it's been brillant. I met Steve Bould aswell, he was really happy about the game.
The atmosphere was great at the grove, i can't remember too much of the game because of alcohol and i was singing most of the time but it's a great result. Weve been to el Comandante before and after the game, I dnt know if there was people from the forum there. I loved the place.
Anyway, I'm pissed and knackered, have a good night!

NOW THATS WHAT I PAY 2 K PER ANNUM FOR
Loved it ! Simply Loved it,showed all the bottle that has been so lacking.
Absolutely loved watching it.........hours later on Match of the Day that is ! The live experience of watching us defend a lead however is almost too much to bear. When they got the 94th minute free kick I actually thought about switching it off and finding out about the 1-1 draw a week or so later.
Just responding to a couple of points on here.
1. Cesc - he wasn't missed because the midfield trio all did their jobs brilliantly and for once we made Anderson look like the bit-part waster he is against virtually everyone else they play. However, I agree with the views that we can't let one game fool us all. Ramsey is probably our freshest player and had a good game but before we all bid Cesc farewell and hail the new hero lets remember how Cesc plays when he's fresh and free from injuries and niggles. We still need to add another midfielder to take the burden of these kids and for me it has to be someone who has experienced the rigours of a 38 game PL season + demanding cup games. For me, Lassana Diarra but I know he's not a popular choice around these parts. If not then Mikel Arteta
2. We can't say this was 'the worst possible result' - FFS, we've waited long enough to beat the Mancs and all bar a 20 minute spell in the 2nd half we dictated the game to them and they had virtually their entire first choice 11.....and by the end had tried all of their attacking big guns - Rooney, Hernandez, Berbatov, Owen, Nani, Valencia -all tried and failed. If Wenger is dumb enough to let this one result change anything then TBH that confirms all my fears about his so-called 'intelligence'. Earlier in the season Wolves beat Man United - when they get relegated will their manager think that everything's perfect on the back of that one result earlier in the season doubt it.
Let's enjoy the moment - I'm certainly looking forward to buying a selection of newspapers again for once !!
Win, lose or draw, this game will have no impact on what is already an inevitability in this transfer window. Cesc WILL leave - there are now too many rumblings from his own mouth. Nasri and Clichy will renew their contracts on more expensive terms. We'll sign one midfielder as Cesc leaves but not anywhere near a £30m signing and he will not be a PL player. Almunia will go but we will stick with the 3 keepers we have. The players that went out on loan this year - particularly Lansbury and JET - will play more prominent roles in the squad next year. We may possibly sign another 30+ year old centre half.
We'll make a £20m + transfer window profit and we'll all feel suicidal.....BUT this morning it still feels fucking great to beat Man United
