Re: Season ticket waiting list and prices
I got made redundant in June a few weeks later I got the call from arsenal offering me a season ticket, at the time I was wondering how i was going to pay my mortgage credit cards etc, not to mention what I was going to do next in terms of my career. I'm not going to lie it was a proper shitty time and having a week to decide if I wanted to cough up 1400 quid was an easy decision to make.armchair supporter wrote:Whats your problem? Luckily I managed to defer, but now I'm settled into my new job in earring a lot less and havnt been to a game all season, I know I'll take the season ticket in June but I may have to flog half to a mate

Theres no guarantee that you'll be offered it again this year though. But you probably will.BournemouthRED wrote:I got made redundant in June a few weeks later I got the call from arsenal offering me a season ticket, at the time I was wondering how i was going to pay my mortgage credit cards etc, not to mention what I was going to do next in terms of my career. Apologies for any offence it was mainly in jest. Glad to read things have got better for BournemouthRED, hope in the future you will be able to get to the game more regularly.armchair supporter wrote:Theres no guarantee that you'll be offered it again this year though. Looking at a man city forum it does seem, however, that it wasn't so much they couldn't sell the tickets but decided they couldn't.
Much as us, the fans have a tiered system for ticket availability and from what I can see there were some that hardly ever get tickets that would have taken them had they been offered. Many of their fans from the london suburbs of Manchester may have taken the opportunity.
It's still good to get it in the news tho (albeit the daily mail :pfftttt: ) as it highlights at least the way many fans view ticket prices.

Love the quote near the end of the article "Arsenal is not a £62 experience" - what about the poor home fans that are expected to stump up every cat A match to see their team, not just once a year as an away fan.
Football is sucking the blood out of all the fans and there isn't much left now.
Re: Season ticket waiting list and prices
I haven't read all the pages in this thread so apologies if someone has already made the same point....
As a season ticket holder I kind of thought that I was immune to all the talk of £62 to get into category A games etc. But, for the first time in the 6 years I have had one, I decided to work out exactly what the saving was in having a season ticket rather than paying per game. It was supposed to put a smug look on my face....
Unfortunately, it did the opposite. It appears, according to my calculations, that season ticket holders effectively pay full price (including for category A games!) for 25 of the 26 home games a season. The "discount" equates (ALMOST!!!) to 1 category B game for free! This calculation assumes that the 7 cup games are all category B.
Of course there are benefits....not least that I buy enough away tickets to guarantee myself a cup final ticket should we ever get to one again! And I don't have the hassle (and extra charges) of having to go online to buy individual tickets for games.... Given the current state we are in though these do seem very small benefits indeed!!!!

Re: Season ticket waiting list and prices
As I recall during the later years at Highbury it was a two-stage process whereby the club first of all hiked up season ticket prices and marginalised the economic benefit of getting one over buying on a game-by-game basis (to the point where there is now virtually none as you say), and then bringing in cumbersome methods of selling tickets to discourage people from trying to do the latter.MK Gould wrote:I haven't read all the pages in this thread so apologies if someone has already made the same point....

i was 37000 when i joined it in 2006, im now 17000 ive never been offered one and to be fair i will only take lower tier as upper tier is atrocious, when i applied i intended for a lower tier and its also alot easier to get on the pitch when we we reach that point of full on protest.

The st list is a joke, they just make it up as they go along!
Re: Season ticket waiting list and prices
Would have loved to hear that phone conversation lol. "Yes, you can offer me a seat in block 7 you say? How easy is it to get on the pitch from there? Is it within spitting distance of the home dugout?"Den10kamp wrote: when i applied i intended for a lower tier and its also alot easier to get on the pitch when we we reach that point of full on protest.
