which striker (left back and backup goalie) should we buy?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Truth be told the only Forster/Ansaldi would be of that mould. I still reckon Munian would be able to cut it though. His footballing intelligence is incredible. He fits into the same category as Silva/Hazard/Lennon. Slight, but incredibly talented, and look how well they've performed. (We can probably exclude Lennon from this list actually  )

+ He'll probably be more affordable than any of the other options.
I hold doubts over Forster, personally.

Although, impressive displays vs Barcelona shows that he can handle pressure well.

Not sure about the spelling but it is the andeluccion derby mate

Anyway with easy passing week I am more and more convinced that baines should be an absolute must in the jan transfer window - watch dickhead wenger sit idly by as ferguscum snaps him up   :banghead:

Dunno if Ferguson will admit to being wrong about Buttner that easy, and don't see him casting Evra aside mid-season or having 3 left backs.

Baines is one of those players who you know you pay a fair price for because of his nationality and club but still a safe bet because you know he's a good player and you won't have to worry about that position for a few years. Held even more weight 2 years ago but at 27 still true now. Same old story but if you took the money paid in fees/wages for Gervinho, Park, Santos and Squillaci we could instead have signed 2 players more or less guaranteed to be successes (people like Baines, Cahill depending on your view, Mata etc) - hardly a ludicrous or reckless transfer policy.

Imo it's not even a case of being let down by scouting network, it's that we've gambled too much and spread ourselves too thin.

Vorm (GK)
Armero (LB)
Tiote (DM)
Eriksen (Rosicky replacement)
Cavani (ST)

Getting these players would propel us into real contenders. Pipe dream I know.

not sure about Tiote, I've always liked him as a player
but not sure if his ball retention is good enough for the way we play

Out of interest which DM would you want Arsenal to sign (that's not De Jong  ;))? There isn't many out there to be fair who are better and more get-table than Tiote. I know he's a yellow-card machine but he's also a warrior and would give us a lot of bite in midfield. Teams walk all over us in midfield and sometimes an enforcer like him is worth their weight in gold.

I too think Tiote is overrated; I also think DMF is the most important signing we need right now however, and I can't offer anyone else I'd suggest :?

De Jong was my number 1 choice  :barscarf:

As for the best of the rest I do agree that there is a limited selection available - de rossi is way out of our league (sadly) and from what I hear m'vila is our best option but personally I havent seen enough of him to judge either way
