Villa match thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

If there was you can bet most of it will have been directed at the officials. It's embarrassing the extent to which our fans and players alike berate the officials for every trivial decision when we're not playing well. Particularly as the biggest call he had to make went in our favour.

You want overrated - Wilshere is the name you're looking for. He will be good in 3 or 4 years but at the moment not so much. We are missing Arteta and Carzola badly.
I was talking about him coming off his line playing rush goalie today.

I'm also talking about buying a GK, who is ready NOW. Arsenal is not an academy, we don't exist to train young and 'exciting' footballers. I heard the same rubbish about fabianski that he needs time, well he never improved. I don't like woj because his shot stopping is poor, he plays because apparently in x years time he is going to be great, but whilst we wait the team loses pts because our defence would be more comfortable with a more experienced GK, a better GK who can save more shots.
Unfortunately mate I think that's exactly what we've become.

I think its harsh to blame Szczesny for the pen. The defending was shocking and if he didnt come off his line the player wouldve had a tap in. That said, for all his obvious potential, right now hes not one of the better keepers in England, let alone Europe - we need someone better.

And I'd agree. Faaaark we need a hard man.
That's what every opposition manager has been saying for years and will be saying for years.
Since Paddy left definitely.

Which Wenger Bingo card classics can we look forward to at full time

"It was an illusionary domination"

"Some of the players are not quite there physically yet. You could see the impact of the international friendlies"

"The situation at left back is a little bit special circumstances"

"Credit to Villa, they defended very well"

"We are a little bit short numbers wise"

"We will be active in the market. The club is working very hard to bring in the players we need"

Thanks and you are spot on about the 'fans' there. Always fucking whinging and moaning at the ref- they get it from Wanker.

Got to wonder if we'll have 11 healthy players after this one.

With this constant mugging, they've been taken off their usual game.

Hopefully that make-up yellow on the nut-shot evens things up call-wise the rest of the way.

What is it about Arsebal the past few season that its seems whenever we are one goal in front the defending goes from half decent to abysmal, and concede a super sloppy goal with defenders making schoolboy errors.

Viola are committing a fair few sneaky fouls. If itnwas la liga or Europe they would have had three or four bookings easily. It isnt though.

Yes, I have played a game. In fact I played in goal for Arsenal at academy level when I was younger. I played in goal most of my adult life until it caused me to have three right knee operations on in six years and now I can't play. I can't even run without agony.

So yes, I have played.
Ok then how would you have handled the one on one and the pen? Do you think a keeper needs to be an arrogant so and so? Because in 38 seasons of playing (and counting) I've never seen a good one that isn't a wanker egomaniac.

Yup, lots of blood. But he was complaining about being taken off on the way to the tunnel, so I'm hopeful he'll be OK for Istanbul, unless there's a concussion issue.
